Some of my MSN Messenger contacts are listed by their first names - others
are listed by their email addresses. Is there a way for me to substitute a
nickname for the email address? Thanks.........

Hi,

in the current version of MSN Messenger (6.2) there is no
possibility to change the eMail-Address of a buddy into a
nickname. If someone is listed by his/her eMail-Address
it means that this person didn't set a nickname in
his/her settings.

Hope this helps,
Christian Kellerer

Greetings,

Yes you can. You can get this functionality by using a third-party addition called Messenger
Plus. To do so, install Messenger Plus from here: http://www.msgplus.net (please read
through the installation, as you probably don't want to install the "sponsor"). After
installation, open up the main Messenger window, click the Plus! menu, then Preferences,
under Contact List, choose Custom Names. Please note that this feature also requires MSN
Messenger 6.x and will not work in previous Messenger versions.
