Back when the webcam vulnerability was announced for MSN Messenger, the WLM
Blog said that Messenger 7.0.0820 had been fixed to be safer on XP.

If is it still safe to use with MSN dialup? Or do I need to upgrade to
Windows Live Messenger? Secunia Software Inspector keeps saying that it is
vulnerable, but I need to hear it from an MSMVP.

Greetings Paul,

This version is safe to use. That security hole does not exist in this version.

Thanks for the reply. I'm glad, because this old Messenger is really all I
need for what I do on dialup.

Hi Paul,

Fair enough. They've been pretty good about supporting at least one old version in the past
for those who need them.
