Hello

I have MSN Messenger 6.2 and it works great.

But, when I connect to my VPN, messenger logs me off and comes up with the
message that I have logged in somewhere else! I have no idea where this
somewhere else is as I have shut down all instances of messenger on any of
the machines I use except the one I am currently on.

If I click on the log off message, Messenger logs back in no problem.

Any idea how I can stop this from happening?

Thank you
ICE

This problem appears because your IP address will change when you connect to
a VPN network. Your computer will be a member of the computers at your work.
Because your computer has logged on in a other network, MSN wil try to
connect by the other network. The warning that appears is because MSN (or
Microsoft) sees a connection on your old IP address. There is no way to fix
this problem. By the way, all other employees with VPN and MSN running must
meet the same problems as you do. Don't be worried your MSN account was
hacked or something like that.

Greetings,

René Beltman.

Thanks for the reply

my mistake - its not the VPN connection that is causing the problem - its
when I connect to a remote machine through the Remote Desktop Connection in
XP.

When I use my windows 2000 remote connection client & vpn, this does not
happen

Any ideas?

Cheers
Ice

windows messenger is conflicting with msn messenger. do=20
this:

This script works in XP Pro or Home

http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts/xp_messenger_autorun.vbs

Download xp_messenger_autorun.vbs and save this file to=20
your hard drive.

(disable win messenger)

Navigate to where you saved it and double click the file.
A confirmation dialog will appear and remind you to log=20
off/back on or restart your computer.=20

now msn messenger 6.2 won't log off anymore

so is it deemed secure to download a script from someone who uses
"anonymous"? seems like some authentication would be logical here .. there
must be a better way to afford the great value this forum provides and still
authenticate oneself ..
