Messenger (and IE) freezes - only on my userprofile

Greetings

I need some assistance - hope you can help me.

I'm running XP with SP1 and various updates (not SP2) with two user profiles
(one for myself and one for my girlfriend). Here's the problem: Whenever I
open Messenger in my profile the program freezes after approx. 15-20
seconds and has to be shut down. The same thing happens with Internet
Explorer which also stops responding (We both use Firefox for internet
surfing - which works fine on both profiles). The strange thing is, that
whenever I use my girlfriend's profile there's no problem with Messenger og
IE whatsoever?!?

Anyone have any ideas? Any help is greatly appreciated.
