Hi, I don't know if there is someone from Microsoft
reading this but maybe one of you can figure this out.

These are the results of my experiments trying to solve
MSN Messenger 5 connection problems.
I'm connected to a corporate LAN with a HTTP proxy server
with NTLM authorization, and a SOCKS4 server. I have
Windows 2k and IE6 on my machine.

I was only able to connect with these settings: IE6 using
a proxy server and MSN using a SOCKS4 server but with the
HTTP proxy settings correctly filled in (server address,
port number, user and password);

Changing any of the HTTP proxy values, either in IE or in
MSN Messenger, and still using the SOCKS4 server option,
would get me an error message.

Why does MSN uses those other values if I'm clearly saying
that I want to use a SOCKS server?

PS: still messing around with MSN Messenger 6, but no
results, yet!!
