This problem has been happening for about a month, but I only got to try to
debug it today.
The PC is running Windows XP Pro, SP2. It has three users. One is has
administrator privileges while the other two are limited accounts.
One of the limited account users can not start up MSN Messenger. It comes up
with the standard crash dialog box asking if you want to forward the error to
Microsoft. After Messenger crashes in this way, it can still be seen as
running using Task Manager (it is in some hung state).
The other limited account user and the administrator user both run MSN
Messenger fine.
Things I have tried:
- Log in as user on MSN Messenger on a different computer (works ok)
- Log in as user on MSN Messenger on same computer, but using the
administrator login (works ok)
[It would appear that the user's messenger account is ok]
- Uninstall messenger, download latest (7.7.0311), install (made no
difference)
- Remove user from Windows completely, create user from scratch (made no
difference)
- Remove all MSN Messenger related registry settings for user and restart
(no difference)
Has anyone seen this before?
Regards,
Laz.
