The next weird thing happend:
I can't connect with messenger all of a sudden, no matter what version I
use, next is something strange that happend with IE I can't access my
hotmail account either, it says that it can't connect to the server after
I filled in mine l/p, any other command in my browser works fine.
I have scanned for a virus but according to both Norton and Zonelabs my
system is clean, even a scan with ad-aware doesn't solve anything, I
think it got something to do with my browser, but I reset to the standard
settings and still the same problem. I'm sure it got nothing to do with
my router/firewall since it always worked fine untill a few days ago.
Anyone knows what can be the problem, since I'm stuck.
It refers to key-ports if I check with MSN what is wrong, but it can't be
a block by a firewall.

Greetings Max,

What makes you think it's not the firewall (ZoneAlarm)? It sounds like Passport or other MSN
addresses necessary to log into Hotmail and Messenger are being blocked somehow.

Because I disabled the firewall and still the same problem, the thing is
I'm using Trillian as a test and I can log-in now to the MSN network.
If I uninstall Zonealarm MSN still can't run, and I don't have the Windows
firewall activated, but thanks for your answer :)

Is this just one particular account you're trying to sign in with? If it is,
try using another hotmail/msn/passport account to sign in, and see if its
successful.

Ive had this problem with one particular hotmail address once. What I did
was waited for 30 days not signing in once. After 30 days the account is
deactivated by MSN. Then, try signing in though www.hotmail.com, reactivate
it and it WORKS well it did for me anyway.

Thanks Jonathan for the reply
I deleted everything that had something to do with messenger did all the
steps people wrote earlier in this group and it works again now, but it
worked only after a reboot, but the main thing is that I'm MSN again and I
still wonder what the hell was wrong :)
