Sorry folks if this has been posted before, I've searched all through
this group and can't see the topic.

My msn messenger is updated to 6.1, but it asks me to update EVERY
time I log in. It pops up and says a newer version of Messenger is
available, would you like to update. Sometimes it says "you can't
proceed withough updating" or something like that. I update every
time, and next time I start the computer up, get the same message.
Any thoughts on how to end this cycle?

TIA

MSN Messenger 6.1 Keeps Asking to Update by Carolyn

I wish I knew! We've had the same problem. The first time
MSN that informed me I couldn't log in until I installed
the "newest version" of Messenger, I went ahead
and "upgraded" (to what I already had! grrr...) so I could
sign into MSN, and, afterwards, we started to have lots of
problems with the computer slowing, etc., so I went back
to a restore point (we're running XP) from before the so-
called upgrade, and that seemed to take care of the
problem. But this week, the same thing happened to my
husband when he tried to log on, so he installed Messenger
again, too. Since then, we've had terrible problems with
popups, even though we have the MSN popup blocker on. I
know we've all encountered the popups on an Angelfire site
at some time; the ones that popup faster than you can
close them? That's what we've been putting up with on
_any_ site! Has anyone else had the popup problem? It
could be just a coincidence that it started with
the "update," but I doubt it.
