    - Win 2000 and Video Problem Hi all, I have a friend who was running Win 98 and msn 6. We could connect to each other fine. She has now just had win 2000 installed onto her machine and we cannot connect. Does anyone know whether this is a Win 2000 issue or a firewall issue?     - web camera VJK Got MSN Messenger 6.0 installed along with pre-installed Windows Messenger 4.7 on XP home HP Pavillion t.130B Attached an Intel web cam (no audio) and tried to video conf with MSN Mssgr. My correspondents see me on their monitors but I do not manage to see them. Tried that with two different folks who use their cameras to video confer between each other perfectly...They both see me but their system tells them that MSN cannot connect their camera to my messneger (or something like that). I've seen a few others have the same problem as i do. I love going on msn and talkin to my friends and they all have msn 6 now and webcams etc. I'm getting a webcam in a few days and i'd love to use it on msn 6!     - No Audio from Webcam Mic I've a Logitech Webcam Pro 4000 and I can send video and audio with it to my brother with no problems whatsoever. However he has a Logitech Quickcam Zoom and whilst he can send video with no problems he doesn't send any sound. This is using the mic built into the webcam. Everything seems ok from his end, he can record audio in sound recorder using that mic ok but with messenger 6 nothing. If he plugs a mic into his soundcard then he transmits audio with no problems. All system recording input devices are set to the webcam inbuilt mic. This initally led us to believe that his webcam was faulty but plugging his webcam into my pc and I can send audo from it with no problems. So we are both stumped! Does anyone have any ideas what might be preventing the audio from the built in mic on the webcam from being heard when it is plugged into his PC?     - Logitech Camera not Working I have looked everywhere and found no conclusive answers. Maybe one of you can shed some light on this. I have a Logitech QuickCam Express on an XP MSN 6.0 environment. The camera works fine on netMeeting or on Movie Maker. The "Scanners and Cameras" control panel applet also works fine... (it shows a live picture) The problem is with MSN, when I use the "Audio and Tunning Wizard" and choose the camera from the list a message appears stating that the camera I selected is not working properly... On other newsgroups and on Logitech site they mentioned problems if using the Via chip (USB) and recommend an upgrade. I have done this with no success. My question is about the reasons the camera works fine with this other software's except MSN Messenger in the same PC!!!??? Is there any incompatibility?     - JONATHON - HELP PLEASE I'M GOING MAD - AUDIO PROBS bought a new webcam today a logitech zoom cam with in built microphone. Connects fine - I can produce sound and video but on MSN MEssenger V 6 when I try to have an audio conversation with someone neither parties work. The webcam works today but when we try to have an audio conversation we just get a message saying trying to connect to x's computer then cancels out.     - Maintaining microphone preferences Running the newest MSN Messenger 6.0.0602, is there a way to set microphone preferences up outside of Audio/Video Tuning Wizard? I have a laptop with a USB camera / microphone that I will plug in as desired. But, everytime I unplug the USB device (or boot my laptop with the camera unplugged), if MSN Messenger is running (which it is because I always start the program on start-up) my microphone always defaults to the built in sound card microphone. Thus, after plugging in the cameram, if I forget to run the wizard I'll do an audio call and find I have no mic. Then I exit audio, run wizard, and restart audio. What I am looking for is someway to have a "preference order" on the microphone such that I can set it up for USB camera mike, then built-in sound card mike, then none.     - loadqm.exe I recently disabled this file through my start-up folder. When I did I had trouble with logging in and out of hotmail through Messenger which caused web pages and, at one point my system, to crash. Out of intrigue more than anything else, I re-enabled the file. Since I have done this my firewall has been flooded with non-stop connection attempts [mostly to port 135]. I have read up on this file and no-one seems to have a straight answer as to it's purpose other than a relation to MSN Messenger. One enquirer was even told to stop being paranoid and just live with it. This is chuff all to do with paranoia - I am well aware M$ probably have my inside leg measurement, despite my best efforts to counteract info retrieval on their part - this is about my, already crappy, dial-up connection getting flooded therefore reducing the amount of bandwidth available to me.     - Messenger Sign Off In the last few days I've been having problems with Messenger just signing itself off for no reason at all. I need to be able to install msn messenger to a certain
directory on my pc.

The only directory I'm allowed to use is C:\unzipped but
the msn 6.0 program doesn't have the option to install to
specific directories.

Is there anyway this can be done?

Greetings Chris,

The installation copies files to more then just \Program Files\MSN Messenger, but copies
files to several other folders, including in the Windows folder.

You might want to make use of a web-based Messenger client instead:
