I'm trying to install Messenger 6.1 (even tried 5.0) and
all I am getting is an error in the top of the screen
consisting of numbers and decimals and it exiting out of
the installation process. When I exit out of the
installation it is telling me to go to MSN and download
the software stating "Error Code: 1603" I searched all
over and can't figure anything out!
Thanks for the help!

do these things:

some installation problems can be fixed by installing the
new version of Windows Installer.
WIN XP ALREADY HAS Version 2.0 so it can't be upgraded.
WIN 95,98,ME CAN be upgraded from here:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?
displaylang=en&FamilyID=CEBBACD8-C094-4255-B702-
DE3BB768148F

Windows Installer 2.0 Redistributable for Windows 95, 98,
and Me is about 2MB

then after u install this restart ur pc and try reinstall
msn messenger.

if u have WINDOWS XP TRY THIS:

click Start, Run, and then "copy" and "paste" the
following command into the box:
%systemroot%\system32\dllcache\msiexec.exe /regserver
(DON'T FORGET THE "SPACE" BETWEEN msiexec.exe
and /regserver

then restart ur pc and try install msn messenger.
