Which version does it say you're using?

When you try to get in, what error message is displayed? Please provide
the exact message, along with any Error codes (usually found in the
lower left-hand corner of the box and starting with 0x something). With
that, we'll be able to give you more accurate help.

hello

I am using 7.5 version I have tried the internet connection wizard and msn
messenger connection it has given me a number 81000306 but it says it cud be
that

I have also looked up the error code and it says

The MSN Messenger service is down or is experiencing technical difficulties.
Check the .NET Messenger Service status, and try to sign in again later. To
check the .NET Messenger Service status, see Check the .NET Messenger Service
Status.

yet it says all systems are running a ok I have done the malicious software
removal tool and it has not found anyhing I also went to the add/remove and
did a fix on the msn messenger but still that does not do anything I reckon
it has something to do iwth default gateway as it does not seem to get pass
that test when doing the msn messenger connection trouble shooter ! it will
not repair I can not do anything it is driven us all crazy ! I have checked
my firewall (Norton) and it is accepted on there hope someone more can help
me thankyou Andy

You may want to search at http://groups.google.com for the error number.
The reason I'm suggesting this is, around November there was a thread
here about that error. But, Microsoft expires messages after a period
of time, so they don't appear for me anymore. I can give you a link to
the original message, but I don't think it'll do any good.

Groups.google.com seems to retain messages longer. So, they may still
have that thread.

Sorry that I can't be of more assistance. But, now that you've posted
the error message number, someone else may have some advice.

Greetings Andy,

It sounds like the firewall is blocking the connection. You may want to completely remove
Norton to test this theory (and then reinstall it).

Hi Joe,

Skype may be good at lots of things, but as an instant messaging client, it's fairly limited.

Hi Joe,

I find Skype status erratic, and it's text-based communication rather lacking. Lots of

Hi Jonathan Kay & Joe,

Jonathan: Joe is right - use the tool that works instead of those that
don't. Why "ridicule" other vendors when you have problems of your own. Why
not solve those at first?

I still cannot sign into MSN 7.5 after using Windows Update for my PC that
runs Microsoft only programs.

What a brilliant way of forcing users to look at systems that may not have
100% functionality that works so-so as a substitute for a Microsoft product
that does not work due to Microsoft???

Best wishes
