    - Can't go voice I am trying to use voice on MSN Messenger - I have Windows XP Pro and I installed a few days ago SP2. Voice doesn't work. I use Zona Alarm firewall but I shut it down to use voice. After reading what some of you experts wrote about uninstalling QoS I did that, and things don't work either. When I try to have a conversation, after a few seconds saying "Connecting to XYZ's computer", it shows the message "The audio conversation with XYZ has ended" and I can't talk. I have a Linksys wireless router and just upgraded the firmaware. This didn't change anything. I talked to a few people that know much more than me on this and one of the things that they noticed is that in my "Network Connections", under "Internet Gateway" the "Internet Connection" gateway is disabled and it should be enabled. I right click on it, select "Enable" and it doesn't change the status (I can repeat that many times and it won't work) What should I do to be able to use voice?     - Picture virus??? HELP! A friend sent me a message on MSN and a link came up after the message. As this friend often sends me links I clicked on the link, it was a picture of an oriental girl. I asked why he'd sent it and he said he hadn't. It was obviously some sort of virus as it then came up after every post he made. And now it's happening to me too! Everytime I message someone they get the url after my message, I've now infected another person with this msn virus as well. How do I get rid of it? I've searched my PC and can't find the files.     - Is someone trying to access my account? Last night as I was using my computer, MSN messenger logged out all of a sudden and it saids I have logged on in another computer. I was at my computer the whole time and I have not gave anyone my password. Needless to say I logged in immediately and changed my password. I doubt anyone cracked my secret question, so really what happened? Was someone trying to hack my MSN/hotmail account? I run antivirus scans regularly, have hardware and software firewalls, and run ad cleaners, CWShredder, and Hijackthis often.     - No more audio in messenger My friend and I were never having any audio problems until today. The only thing that has changed was the installation of WMP 10 and Messenger Plus.     - MSN Freeze at login time I have this issue on two computers at home. Both have Win XP SP2. The first one is an older installation and MSN Messenger worked fine last Friday. The other one is a new, freshly installed, WinXP SP2 Since yesterday, both can't login with MSN Messenger 6.2. It establishes the contact, display the contact list, but then freeze. Error reports are sent to MS, but I can't use Messenger. Nothing has changed on the older computer. I tried many things on the new computer, including uninstall/reinstall, reinstall Windows from scracth and change parameters of router's inbuilt firewall, but nothing worked.     - Messenger my o/s is xp pro. i dont have msn messenger, i have windows messenger. i didnt want both, and windows is ok. i go to an msn groups website forum that requires sign in to read any pages. the problem is that i chose to sign in automatically, and cant seem to find a way to reverse it. i used to have to sign in with the xp drop down menu before i read the site, and now i can get right in, but it also allowed windows messenger to be able to be signed in without password right out of the programs menu. other people use my pc, and i dont want them to be able to do that. i looked at tools/options/privacy and the tab is checked properly. any ideas? and also, with windows messenger, can you delete email adresses out of the drop down somehow? thanks in advance.     - Help required please. I currently have XP professional with firewall disabled and MSN 6.2 installed. However, whenever I try an audio conversation through MSN I can hear the other person talking but they can't hear me. I have the full green signal whenever I talk into the mike and the mike test passes me ok. I have checked all the sound boxes on the windows sound icon and they are all set to use.......none muted.     - Application Error I do not use MS Messenger but it starts up when I turn on my computer. Today I am getting a msmsgs.exe application error popping up every two minutes. It says, "The instruction at 0x77f58e20 referenced memory at 0x1d84off6. The memory could not be 'written'. Click on ok to terminate program."     - MSN PROBLEM Hello, I am Prashant Varshney from India, I am having a problem with MSN Messenger 6.1 which I tried to solve by the suggestions given on askmarvin forum, but of no use. I'll briefly explain my computer setup We have a Peer to Peer connection of 5 computers through a 100 MBPS Switch. One computer has a USB modem installed that connects the net through ADSL connection. This computer (referred as computer A) has Win 2000 professional installed on it, as well as on the others, except for a laptop that has winXP home edition (preloaded). The IP address computer A is 192.168.0.1 whereas the other computers have a automatically generated IP address assigned by DCHP. Computer A has internet connection sharing enabled, by virtue of which we can browse the net on other computers also. Web surfing works fine except for few sites, reasons unknown to me, but MSN fails to start on the other computers, whereas it works fine on that particular machine (A). Also we have NAV 2003 installed on all the computers (I dont know whether it creates the problem). For mail we use Outlook express 6 which works fine.     - msn says server not available problems started when I uninstalled eztrust antivirus/firewall. I started having internet connection issues with comcast. Couldn't figure it out, luckily enough system restore did it for me. After I uninstalled eztrust this time the internet was working just fine. A few of my games, and messenger didn't recognize that an active connection was available. I upgraded to sp2 figuring that would do it. no changes at all. I made sure that the necessary ports/programs were specified in windows firewall, I even shut it down to see if it was a firewall issue. no luck. Currently I can connect with a few of my games, IE has no problems. Some of my games (all of them are blizzard) won't connect, and MSN Messenger won't as well. What should I try?     - Alerts problem: NET Passport service is currently unavailable I have two computers, both running Windows XP, SP2, both with MSN Messenger 6.2. On one, everything is fine. On the other, however, when I click on the Alerts tab in MSN Messenger, I get the dreaded "The .NET Passport service is currently unavailable..." message. It's bogus, of course, since it works fine on the computer right behind me. Here's what I've tried so far: 1. Completely uninstalled MSN Messenger and deleted the corresponding registry entries; rebooted, and reinstalled MSN Messenger 6.2. Still broken. 2. Went into IE and cleared the cache and cookies. Still broken. 3. Reset all Privacy and Security settings to the Default. 4. I have Norton A/V 2004. I turned it off. Still broken. 5. I turned off the Windows Firewall (which does, by the way, have an exception for MSN Messenger 6.2) Nothing [so far] has any effect. On the problem computer, when I use Windows Messenger, instead of MSN Messenger, the Alerts tab there works fine. I suspect the problem is somehow connected with MS IE. Here's why. Using MS IE, I navigate to http://alerts.msn.com/Alerts/Default.aspx?lcid=1033,then try to continue by clicking on Manage Alerts, it gives me the "NET Passport service is currently unavailable" screen, identical to what I see in MSN Messenger. However, if I use a different browser, such as Foxfire, I don't get that error. Instead, it works perfectly. The question is... What has happened to MS IE such that it's no longer cooperating with the Alerts tab? Note: two other tabs are similarly broken: CNBC and "See your local Traffic Forecast and Gas prices..."     - MSN Messenger Audio Problem I'm having a problem with audio chat. Audio chat was working in Windows Messenger that came with XP. But I have a webcam and wanted video messenger, so I had to upgrade to MSN Messenger 6.2. Now audio chat doesn't work. I've run the audio/video setup wizzard, the camera, mic and speakers are all fully responsive. Video chat works -- silent, but the webcam picture goes through fine. Audio chat works in both directions if I'm using "Remote Assistance" and the other party initiates it (but not if I try to initiate it). However, MSN Messenger chat doesn't work, no matter which party tries to initiate it. I click on Audio, the bar graphs and volume controls appear, it says "connecting", and then after maybe 1-2 minutes (during which there is no audio), it says the audio session has been terminated. There is no response on the bar graph to talking into the mic, and no sound coming through from the other end. Anyone have any ideas? I had removed Messenger 4.x that came with XP (didn't see a reason to have two messengers), tried reinstalling that, but it didn't chance anything (and it didn't work under that version either). any assistance would be apprciated.     - Eagerly awaited SP2 to fix voice probs I lost count of how long I have waited for SP2, because I was told that it would address my voice problems, and many others too, I am not alone. OK. SP2 now installed. Trying once again. Here is the deal, when trying to talk with a friend, I can hear him, my meter moves for me when I talk, but he cannot hear me (both in California about 90 miles apart). Trying with another friend, she accepts, I see "connecting to so & so", and it never completes the connection, saying the remote computer is experiencing problems after it eventually aborts. (She cross country). I am behind a Netgear router. My 1st friend who cannot hear me & I hear him, is also behind a Netgear router. My second friend who we cannot even connect voice, I do not think is behind a router, but I could be mistaken. Also I've tried Windows Messenger with the 1st friend too, (he still using MSN) and get the "connecting to so & so", but it never does connect voice and eventually aborts. Now - if anyone tells me, especially now with SP2 here, that I have to do this & that & this & enable this port or that port, I am going to puke my guts.
