Ouch, on starting mMSN messenger this morning my login
always fails with the above error. I see that there are
a lot of problems today, so maybe there is a redesign
going on behind the scenes. Anybody heared anything or
resolved this ?

I had that problem too, but only once.

Upon retry, my login was successful, my contact list is there but they are
all offline (which is *very* unlikely). In addition, it reports that I have
no messages in my inbox which I know is false.

Looks like they are experiencing some problems with their servers... I
don't think there is much we can do about it.

I'm on Win 98 - Messenger 7.0.0425

Had same problem. I uninstalled and went to reinstall but it looks like
messenger.msn.com is throwing server errors also. I had a similar
problem about 3 weeks ago but then it just came back after about 3
days. Really wierd. Btw, I could log on during the down time from other
machines on the same network.
