MSN Live Messenger keeps shutting down

Each time I sign in to Live Messenger it shuts down with a prompt that a
problem has stopped it from working. I've tried uninstalling and
re-installing it to no avail. Please help!!!

I kept getting the same problem, I now use a 3rd party client but the
problem still exists with the official client.

Even reinstalling does not appear to help.

It's the exact same for me as well on Vista,
I just use Trillian and be done with the msn client forever.
