Got a new computer in January installed with Vista. Since I got it, my MSN
login keeps sending out "I'm online - sending "Tanny" is online" to my
contacts about 50 times a day.

As I leave my computer on all the time and put it as AWAY when I go out or
go to work, it's very confusing for my friends around the world as they are
used to me being online when I am.

What am I doing wrong to have this happen?

Tanny
PS - I did the same with the old computer and never had this problem.

Greetings Tanny,

Most likely the problem is Vista's autotuning networking feature. To do so, click on the
Start button, then in the Search box, type in Command Prompt.

Command Prompt will then show up in the results. Next, right click on Command Prompt icon
and select Run as administrator. After confirming that, you'll be presented with a command
prompt. Type in:
netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled

Reboot and then hopefully that will resolve the problem.
