There's just got to be someway to do this:

I know AIM users and YAHOO! chat client users have a method in which a
specially encoded URL string will launch their IM clients from a link and
initiate a chat session with the specified user. How in the world can I do
this with MSN Messenger? I've looked everywhere, googled, etc. no luck
whatsoever . . .

Please someone enlighten me! :-)

Greetings Erik,

Unfortunately you can't, due to some security issues back with this type of functionality in
MSN Messenger 4.5 and it was removed.

Jonathan,

Thanks for your insight! It's too bad there's not a method to do this. I
would love to drop a specially-encoded URL into my e-mail sig and allow
people to automatically start a IM session with me.

Hmmm . . . maybe something MS can think about in future MSNM releases. Who
knows? :-)

Best Regards,
Erik

if your email address is the same as your IM address MSN Hotmail users can
send you an instant message by clicking "Instant Reply".

not if it compromises security.

Hi Erik,

It might be back in the future, to be honest, I don't think it's very high on the priority
list at this point however.
