Hi Jonathon, thanks for the quick response. The problem
doesn't seem to be for messages being sent from the
outside or from account to account only if sending to the
same acccount. If in my hotmail mailbox I send a message
to myself (same hotmail account) takes hours. Had
someone with another hotmail account try the same thing
and the experienced delay as well. Seems to have started
late yesterday afternoon (EST).

Greetings Tina,

Okay yes, I'm seeing the same thing here now; most be some sort of glitch.

However my question would be, why would you want to send mail to yourself? =)

Hi,

It just arrived, ~2 minutes later, so it's not completely stuck in oblivion.

Sounds stupid I know but using it as a shared mailbox.
Do you know why this is happening....first time I have
had a problem.

I sent something a few hours ago and still not showing
up. Tried on another mailbox and was delayed but not
quite that long but at least an hour.

Just had a message back from Hotmail support and they
seem to be aware of this issue and are trying to fix.
Not sure what that means or whether it is just a canned
response.

Hi,

Well, as a workaround, I'd suggest simply opening another Hotmail account and sending mail to
that one from that.

I do it all the time. Suppose you are out on the internet and come
across a good piece of information that you want to save.

Well, you can save the whole webpage, but that includes ads
and gifs and information you don't want; I usually want text.

So under File in the IE browser I click Send --> Page by E-mail
type in two letters of my own email and it auto fills in
then assign a very descriptive subject
sometimes I have to copy and paste

I find it slightly more efficient than using wordpad or notepad
copy and paste, save-as (assign filename)

It is pretty hand when collecting information on Google about what
Jonathon Kay says about Qos or UPnp etc. along with Ctrl-A (Select)
Ctrl-C (Copy) Ctrl-V (Paste) are faster than mouse for me or used
with mouse and select/highlight with mouse portions of text to be copied.
Also searching in sent files for a keyword is more convenient than the
search for a keyword using "Search" when you click Start (less typing).
Or you can move create folders under your Inbox and categorize files
then use the find command, instead of navigating by browsing to folder.

Regards,
Stephen

Thanks Stephen -- still seems to be a problem. Just
received a message that I sent over 2 hours ago in my
inbox (again to myself). Something definitely not right
as this function worked immediately before.

OK, I will test it, right now, as I have a hotmail account.
Hotmail servers might be slow. Also your ISP can bog
down and receive email much later than usual. I've
had email bounce back and need to be resent because
the servers at the recipeint's email address were congested.

I've tried to check my hotmail in the past and got turned
down because their servers were too busy.

Result of test. I was able to send and receive email
to myself at my hotmail account and my sbcglobal
account in about 30 seconds (from sbcglobal account).

I sent email from my hotmail account to me at my
hotmail account and my sbcglobal account and neither
email has arrived. I am however, not getting an error
when I poll my email servers (send and receive) from
either hotmail or sbcglobal. Something else is wrong.

So something is wrong and at this point you can't do
much to fix it. I tried going to www.hotmail.com and
logging in. My email sent from sbcglobal had shown up
but not the email I sent to myself from my hotmail account.

Regards,
Stephen

Hi,

Ah, I see. Well Hotmail is constantly updated, so I'm unsure where the problem would be.
