Hi Folks,

Yet another question about audio.
I have no trouble in sending and receiving video in 6.1 but audio is always
a problem.
I run Win98 SE with Nortons Internet Security properly set up (as far as I
can tell).
Whenever I try the audio, it just sits there saying "connecting with
whoever" and then after a while gives up.

It seems incredible to me that the other day, I was in a video conference
with a friend in Canada and at the same time having to use Yahoo messenger
for the audio.
Last night we tried again this time using MSM to launch Netmeeting which
worked perfectly.

I still have trouble with messenger even if I disable or even change my
firewall.

So what's up with messenger, why are so many people having trouble?

Please help,
Dave.

I concur with Dave.

I am running W2K and I upgraded to 6.1. I was able to voice chat running
6.1 with my son who was running MSN Messenger 4.7 with XP. I suggested he
upgrade to 6.1 since I thought finally Microsoft got it fixed. With both of
us running 6.1, we can exchange video but not voice. We are current on
service packs.

Since we previously could do voice chat, I doubt there is a problem with his
cable NAT router which has the necessary ports open and is Upnp capable.
And I have only ZoneAlarm which requires dropping back to Medium Internet
security to allow Mesenger voice chat.

I've been following this issue since way before version 6 was released. I
don't see any answers from Jonathan or others, so I suspect MSN Messenger is
still broken.

Me too!!! My brother in UK and I used Net Messenger when he was on Win ME,
and it worked fine. Then we went to MSN Messenger and could only get one way
audio, from me to him. He bought a new system with Win XP, and we thought
MSN 6.1 would solve things, but I am still unable to receive audio from him.
Windows Messenger 5.0 seems to work fine, albeit the video is a bit scrubby,
so we use that. Win Messenger still seems to be buggy.
