Greetings,
When you start Messenger, the Windows Installer does a quick self-check to make sure
Messenger is 'properly' installed. If it fails somehow, it will automatically attempt to
reinstall itself.
Generally, you can solve this by downloading the latest version from here:
http://messenger.msn.com/Download
If you already have the latest version, a repair option will become available, simply click
that. If you're not up to the date with the latest build, simply install the newest.
