Yes, it does interact with a UPnP IGD and if that fails (and several other methods as well),
it can send the transfer through the Messenger server, so it should work regardless.
In order to make use of the new file transfer techniques, your contacts must be using MSN
Messenger 6 (but MSN Messenger 6 is backwards compatible with the older clients). The only
real thing that could be preventing this from working, is some type of built-in Messenger
support. Which IGD/router do you have?
