    - webcam device not found Messenger 6.2 dropped support for using video capture cards as webcams even though previously it worked fine. Furthermore, if using anything but XP you are farther up the creek because they don't support video conferencing in those versions. I use a capture card with windows ME and got it working using the WDM drivers for my video card thru a SplitCam driver instead of VFW. it's available at www.splitcamera.com and it is free.     - Messenger Install Error I cannot get the latest version of MSN Messenger to install. This is the error I receive every time I try to install: "Could not open key: UNKNOWN\Installer\Assemblies\Global.     - MSN Video Conference in 6.2, sound and black screens I have one contact who I can video conference with no problem at all. He has no firewall and I have a PnP NAT firewall. All is good. Then I have another contact who can video conference with other people but not me! And when we attempt the video conference he gets a black screen and I get nothing.     - Microphone problems Hello everyone, here's the deal: I'm running Win98 plus with MSN Messenger, vers. 6.2 My soundcard is the Master Riptide PCI Audio card by Rockwell. I am logged in as the Administrator, and my firewall is turned off. I recently bought a multimedia headset/mic from Radioshack, and while it works with my sound recording program, every time I go to connect into an audio convo with any of my contacts, the connection process appears to work fine, but then ends abruptly with the error message that "the computer or network you were trying to contact is experiencing a problem." In the most recent attempt, I recieved an error message stating that "the computer, network, or internet provider" that I am using "does not support audio something-or-other. I've exhausted all the MSN mssgr help files available from microsoft about audio, and am now at a loss as to what the problem might be. Does anyone have any advice?     - The system cannot open the device or file specified When I go to download MSN Messenger 6.2, I at first get a message telling me, "The system cannot open the device or file specified." I than click on retry, but it keeps on popping up, so I click cancel. A message than stating the following appears: "The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2755." I thank click OK, than finish. than lastly, a message pops up saying, "MSN messenger setup has failed with error code: '1603'. Please go to the msn Messenger site and download the software from there." I than click Ok. I have the old messenger installed in my computer, but when I try to log in, it says, " Signing in to .NET messenger Serice failed because the password is incorrect or the sing-in name does not exist.     - Games, ActiveX Objects Missing 2 I've had this problem for a good month now and it's getting on my nerves :( Everytime I try to play any of the Messenger Games I get the error message "ActiveX Objects Missing 2". I'm running XP Pro SP1 with ALL updates installed. I'm using Messenger version 6.2 though I've also tried 6.1 and have the same problem. The games appear to download and do appear in my "Downloaded Programs Folder" but after they've downloaded Messenger comes up with the error message. Some of the games, for example Solitaire play a nice sound that gets you all excited into thinking it's worked ...... but hasn't :( I have tried everything; Reinstalled Messenger about a billion times, using various versions from various places. Reinstalled XP Checked that "Always ask me for my password when checking ....." is unchecked. Cleared temporary internet files, cleared cookies. Prayed a bit Messed with the security and privacy settings, including setting them to low security. Cried It's not a router issue as it happens both at home and work with multiple computers on each, all of which work.     - cannot block contacts anymore Hi, The hotmail adress I use as my MSN passport seems to be a popular first name in some places. Thus I get enormous loads of mistaken emails, besides the spam, but now the poblem has moved to messenger. At least 10 new "contacts" every week want to be added to my contact list, mistaking my passport name for some buddy of theirs. I have reached the point where I cannot block eny more of them. Si now everytime I start messenger, I have to click away 10 unknowns, who have added me to their contact lsit, and the number increases every day. Quite annoying. I uese to have 6.1 installed, recently installed 6.2 but the problem persists. I take it the list of blocked persons is full. I imagine that could be the caste, there are hundreds of contacts in my blocke list I gathered over the years. I thought removing some from my blocked list might free up som spwce (since "all other users" is already there, bu I cannot remove most of them. What is happenming here...?     - Explorer error with msn plus When I installed plus upon version 6.2, my internet=20 explorer would not work. "send error report" and when i=20 did this, a new error appered that said "could not send=20 error raport, notify microsoft about your problem". But whenever I try to click on "Send My Webcam" with anyone on my contact list, the program replies with ... "MSN Messenger cannot detect a camera.     - No Audio on One end of conversation Hello all. I am completely stuck. I am using MSM 6.2 to chat with my grandfather in florida (I live in NC). We are both on 6.2 and we have eliminated his machine out of the realm of possible culprits to the problem we are experiencing. I am able to see him over the video feed (I am not running a cam). He is able to hear me talking...but I am not able to hear his audio feed. I am not sure what other steps I can take to remedy this situation. From what my grandfather says...it is a great feature of MSM to be able to chat with other people over the internet...without having to type. I would like to do this too. the application might fix the problem" well i have done
that many times and even tried to repair and nothing works
it has never done this before and its really frustrating.
im on windows xp somebody please help me soon as possible.

After installing, run the setup program again from:
http://messenger.msn.com/Download

and when prompted, choose the "repair"
