 - MSN messages "fowarded" to Yahoo! Messenger Here's the situation, it happened only once but with someone with two accounts talking to me. I was chatting on MSN with that person, and as it happens sometimes, although we both appeared to be on I was received her messages as offline messages (which is pretty irritating when that happens because even when you focus on the window it keeps blinking until you reduce it and bring it back up), and there's some messages from both of her accounts that she sent me, but I never received them on MSN , and I received them more than a day later, on Yahoo. I forgot to say that although this person doesn't use Yahoo! Messenger and that both her accounts are @hotmail.com, my MSN account is @yahoo.fr and I use Yahoo! Messenger with the same email account. So anyways I received these messages as offline messages one day later on my Yahoo account on Trillian (note that I use Trillian only for Yahoo! and that I use Windows Live Messenger 8.0 for MSN, so there was no possible confusion) with her full hotmail email addresses as Yahoo account names, and of course my Yahoo account appeared to be what it normally is, which is the first part of my email address. So, how on earth can (offline) MSN messages not be received by their recipients and rather be received one day later (as I was on Yahoo! all the while) on Yahoo!  - Shared Folder Synchronisation Folder Hi I am very new to Shared Folders operations and need some advice. My friend posted 2 pictures in a newly created Shared Folder between us on 25 January and they are there. Since then I have posted several images to what appears to the same folder, but she cannot see them. Last night she posted another one, and I cannot see that one. I can still my own. The folder window indicates that 'Synchronisation' last took place on 25 January - the date she opened/created the folder. Two questions: 1. How often should I expect synchronisation to take place. 2. Can I 'force' a synchronisation to take place?  - MSN Live Messenger Video Call Audio Problem I've been trying to use the Video Call function on MSN Messenger for the past couple of days. The problem is that while my family on the other side can hear me just find, I can't hear any audio from them. The picture quality is great. I eventually figured out that it was becaues the speaker volume setting was at the lowest bar (this is the icon that is next to their video picture window) but I can't click on it or change it's setting, even if I do a right-click or ctrl-click. My computer speakers are working fine since I can hear the alert sounds quite easily. It is just a problem of not being able to adjust the speaker volume for the caller. Can you help me fix this?  - Messenger Causes BSOD Hi, there, Gurus, Got myself a little problem. Since downloading and installing the very latest Windows Live Messenger every time I sign in, it gives me about 2 minutes before crashing into the BSOD. In fact, if I don't exit the program from the System Tray as soon as it appears (it does not automatically sign in) I only get about 5 minutes before crashing. The salient points of the BSOD are that it's a "Bad Pool Caller", whatever that means, and the Technical information is: "*** STOP: 0x000000c2 (0x00000007, 0x00000cd4, 0x00000000, 0xff25ced4).  - Display pictures Ok so one night i was on msn and i went to add a picture to my display... all of a sudden the messager in the display picture window said 'your display pictures could not be used. please load new display pictures.'  - To Change Spanish Headings When I signed into Messenger, the "Contacts" and all of my groups now have headings that are in Spanish. (Exasmple: "Amigos" replaced "Friends", "Familiares" replaced "Family", and so forth). I use the program infrequently, but I do know that the last time I used it, it was in English. I have looked in the "Options>Preferences" tab to no avail. I am running v 4.7. If I uninstall, then reinstall, will I lose all of my preference and contact information that is stored locally on my hard drive?  - display picture problem Until recently I had display pictures of all my live messenger contacts however these have mysteriously disappeared and have been replaced by the 'little blue man'. Some pictures have returned but not the picture the contact was displaying but one of the pre-set pictures (ie the duck).  - Hotmails all it shows is "Done"... My friend is having a problem with MSN... she uses Hotmail and something has happened to screw things up .....  - Vista DEP security controls conflict with Messenger I just bought a new computer with Vista installed on it. Since messenger is not installed with Vista, I followed the link in my start menu to download messenger from the website. It installed fine, but when I tried to sign in, I was told that "Messenger has stopped working." When I investigated further, I found that Data Execution Prevention controls will not let messenger run in Vista. When I tried to turn off DEP controls for messenger, I was told that DEP must be turned on for the messenger program. From researching on the net, I know DEP can be turned off through using the command prompt but I would assume that DEP is part of Vista for a good reason.  - got a BRAND new msn virus... not on google yet I googled it, and almost every part of it... I cannot ifnd any hint to the message that came up on my screen, and then began sending itself to EVERY person on my contact list within the next hour... It sent the messages all at once after I clicked the link that looked harmless, but my friend sent to me. the mssage was: i hope this isnt you http://improfile.net/members.php?msn&e=<contact's email address who this message was sent to> .... basically, that link was customized with the recipient's email address every time. So far, since it sent itself around, I haven't had anymore trouble (this is about 30 minutes later), but, as we all know, that doesn't mean the virus is gone....  - Capturing a copy of msn conversations The option to save a copy of a conversation in MSN Messenger is normally found in the options but can only be set by the user once they're logged into MSN. Is there anyway to set this for a user without logging into their account? I.e. Changing a registry key in regedit?  - Windows Messenger + Wireless + Wired = Grrr!! Hi everyone, I'm a developer and at the office we have two T1 internet connections. One is for our main LAN, which everyone uses. The other is pure internet connection and is used for backup purposes and development etc. My development workstation is usually connected to both T1's simultaneously. I'm hard-wired into the LAN connection and wireless to the backup connection. I'm using metrics in the TCP/IP advanced settings of each connection to specify the preferred internet connection. For me it's wireless first, LAN second. (The wireless connection is usually much faster because only about 3 of us use it whereas the whole company uses the LAN connection). Anyhow, from time-to-time we can't use the wireless connection for various reasons. When we disable our wireless connection AFTER MSN Messenger has already connected, it disconnects and refuses to connect again until I re-activate the wireless connection. It's as if Messenger is remembering which connection it was using first and won't let you use any other one. Even if you kill the Messenger process and re-start it it will refuse to connect to anything othr than the wireless connection. To make it even more interesting, if I just let Messenger stay disconnected, after a couple HOURS it will all of a sudden let me connect via the LAN connection?? Inversely, if I start the day with the wireless disabled and let Messenger connect thru the LAN, the exact opposite occurs. It will only let me use the LAN to connect, unless I leave it alone for a couple hours, at which point it will let me connect via the wireless..!  - Account issues and 81000314 (or 81000306) error Very strange. I cannot log on in msn messenger with my msn account. I tried with other msn accounts and everything works fine (no problem with connection or pc itself). I tried to logon with my msn account from another pc and I continue to get error message : 81000314 or 81000306. Same results if I try to logon to msn webmessenger. I tried change my msn password but nothing change . I guess issue is not related to my pc / configuration / connection but it is related to Microsoft server. I've tried changing my password, etc and the network simply does not like my passport.  - Windows Live Messenger 8.1 beta 80048820 error Greetings, I've browsed through the majority of the 80048820 error threads, but can't find any specific to my situation; my family recently signed up for Qwest DSL, and we got an ActionTech GT701 to act as our modem. The problem is, my family uses a wireless router, and apparently the modem that Qwest gave us has a router in it as well (for whatever reason), so they've been conflicting, and I've been doing battle with it for the last 2 days. I finally got it so that the IP's aren't conflicting by assigning the wireless router a different IP address, but now Windows Live Mail and Messenger aren't working. I've run the troubleshooter on Windows Live messenger, and I got a yellow sign next to Key Ports (while everything else checked out fine). I tried repairing it, and it turned to a green check mark, but when I tried to sign in, it gave me the same error. Does anyone know what's going on?  - Windows Live Messenger 8.0 -- sudden empty contact list (REDUX) Hi All I think this problem has been reported numerous times in this NG. After I logged in to MSN today to my utter disbelief I found my contact list totally empty! I tried all the usual tricks being a software engineer myself. I googled, tried a few tips offered by Mr. Jonathan Kay but to no avail. When I click on Options->Privacy, the whole contact list over there is also empty (so I can't even re-add them). What is even more surprising is, if I login, add a new contact, logout and then login back again, the contact I added was never saved. It once again comes up with "There is no one in your contact list" message. I used the online meebo.com to login to my messenger ID and sure enough all my contact list turn up there just fine. I've got a slightly diff problem.

whenever i delete a contact (right click on the contact in WLM and click delete, then block and remove from contacts and then click ok) they remove themselves.

however when i close WLM and then sign in again (same pc/profile) after any period of time, i get bombarded with invite requests from all the blocked/deleted contacts i just got rid of.

unless i accept them all back (clicking dont add or cancel just closes the request)i just get asked each and every time i log in. :(
