Ummm... Theres no need for that? You can still send the person messages if
there status is '' Away, Busy, Be Right Back, Out To Lunch,'' Except
Offline. Unless you are going to send an Offline Message.

I think that would be at cross purposes of being able to make oneself
"appear offline." When I make myself "appear offline," that means I don't
want anyone knowing I'm online. There are many reasons one would "appear
offline," not the least of which is they're trying to get some work done
without interruptions.

Bottom line is that when I "appear offline" I do not wish to be contacted
because I'm probably busy and need to concentrate on what I'm doing. Another
reason not to be able to tell if they're really online is that some contacts
will invariably be offended if they think you're hiding from them by
"appearing offline."

Personally, I wouldn't change a thing about this feature

Hi Nancy,

We're talking about "Away" status here, not Appear Offline. The OP wants to see if the
person is really away from their computer or if they're typing to other contacts.
