    - stop traffic to toolbar.msn.com I have a machine with MSN 6.2 generating more that 2 requests/sec to toolbar.msn.com The sites is blocked by firewal, so the Logs of the firewall is full of requests denied I've unistalled msn toolbar and even so, the traffic is beeing generated (windows 98) How can i stop the traffic?     - Incomplete uninstall suspected? Hi kind folks I am hoping someone will be able to help me bit here. My dear Gran (aged 76) is a silver surfer - I really want to encourage her new hobby, and at the moment she is learning how to use MSN messenger. Unfortunately someone else in my family tried to "help" her so she could use her webcam. They helped her by upgrading from MSN 4.7 to MSN messenger 6.2 with remote assistance. The problem is that now MSN 6.2 works - but whenever Grandma types a message strange characters appear instead of what she is typing. I have been on remote assistance with dear Grandma, and I *think* the problem might be due to an incomplete uninstall of MSN messenger 4.7 - I see a folder with Messenger in the C drive and another for MSN messenger 6.2. In the "messenger" folder there is a .dll file msnmsgs.dll (or something very similar!) I am fairly technical (but by no means an expert!). Could it be that there is a conflict between the old .dll file and the new one, and if so could someone suggest a way to resolve it. If possible I would like to remedy the problem for my Grandma by remote assistance as I am overseas. Help is very much appreciated - I do not want Grandma to become disheartened with her new computer - and she would love it if MSN messenger worked properly again.     - problems with windows messenger, .net, OE, hotmail This is a .Net passport issue/hotmail/OE issue. Every time I log into web hotmail, I get the notification that I need to input the letters from this figure, and on other machines logging into the same user id, that never happens. When I try to retrieve hotmail from Outlook Express, it fails, acting like it cannot find the http server, or something.HOWEVER, when I log into hotmail via the web, and enter the letters from the figure presented as part of the login process, then I can go back to Outlook Rxpress AND THEN OE CAN DOWNLOAD MAIL ANS FOLDERS FROM THE HOTMAIL SERVERS.     - Computer will freeze if Norton Antivirus 2005 and MSN Messenger 6.2 are loaded together during startup Hello, I've already turn the option of monitoring MSN Messenger off (and even Yahoo Messenger, although I don't load it during startup) within Norton Antivirus 2005, my pc still cannot boot up normally.     - Delete Contacts Hi, I am using the current beta version of MSN Messenger. I got hit by a couple of "spammer" type of contacts. For example, one idiot with the address of humpedjerk@hotmail.com wanted me to accept him (assuming a male) as a contact. I declined his invitation. Now his address is in my "block list". How do I get rid of or simply delete idiots like this? I have checked "Only people on my Allow List can see my status and see me messages," so I really don't need to block this idiot. But I would like to keep my "allow" and "block" lists clean and uncluttered. Unfortunately, I have three of these idiots who are cluttering up my block list. I tried right mouse clicking and trying the "delete" command, but it is already "grayed out." Does anyone know how I can remove people like humpedjerk@hotmail.com and husenaswat69@hotmail.com? I have absolutely no idea who they are and would certainly like to remove them. I temporarily allowed husen as a contact as a curiousity. I was sent a bunch of links, which I did not follow. Asshats. Any advice on how to clean up my block list would be greatly appreciated. It would be nice is MSN allowed us to pull our addresses away from those we don't like. (i think) After enduring a msn pop-up that asks "a new version of messenger exists, do you want to update?" with "yes" or "no" but no option to never ask again, I finally wore down and clicked "yes"... Outlook Express apparently interfaces with Windows Messenger, not MSN Messenger as in previous Windows versions, so unless I have Windows Messenger running, I don't see the online/offline status of people in my Address Book.     - Does MSN 7.0 Beta break your internet connection HI, Apologies about my last post. Our interent connection has been terrible over the last few weeks. It constantly drops the connection especially in the evenings. I have been told by some people that MSN 7.0 Beta can muck up your internet connection, I want ot know if this is true or not. Greetings Spence,

Try this -- click Start, then Run, then type:
%appdata%\microsoft
and click OK.

Right-click the MSN Messenger folder and choose Delete. After all this, restart Messenger
and see if the problem has been corrected.
