    - Webcam connection disconnects msn messenger Hi, I've been having a great time with msn messenger and it's webcam and audio capabilites. I've connected with many people, at least 6. With 2 fixing the audio problem they had. mostly it was opening port 1900 on their router. However, with my dad. We've been having problems. We've connected the first 2 times we used it. Then all of a sudden it won't work anymore. We can send video one way right now. It doesn't matter which way. My dad to me, or from me to my dad. It works, however once we start the second person. His connection of msn messenger just freezes and then he is signed off. It's only him. Also, the audio hasn't worked since the first 2 times. So, I'm actually quite confused. he uses a dlink router, a logitech quickcam pro 4000, and windows xp pro with sp1 update. all updates are up to date, including msn messenger and quickcam drivers. everything worked before, so that is what's confusing me. thanks in advance Tag: Audio and Video Tag: 52606

    - MSN Messenger 6.2 error messages Sir, For the past 2 days I can't open my messenger due to some error messages. Earlier days it came up and after trouble shoot and it will ok.     - contacts disappearing ok thanks for telling me microsoft is working on the issue of ppl's contacts disappearing. I just wanted to know when the issue is fixed, will the users who lost their contacts get them back? or will the fix stop this from happening again but they'll have to re- add the contact's they've lost?     - Audio interruptions - MSN Messenger 6.2 This is really puzzling. I'm trying to have MSN Messenger voice conversations with my mom. She's running Windows XP in spanish, fully patched, and PC-Cillin Firewall. I'm running Windows 2000 Server, in english, fully patched, and no Firewall. We are both running MSN Messenger 6.2, although she's running it in Spanish, and I in English. We can chat fine, no problems. We can start audio conversations ( "Audio" menu option ) just fine but, after a few seconds, the conversations get interrupted, and we have to reclick "Audio" on the menu in order to restart talking. Sometimes we get to talk for 5 seconds. Sometimes we can talk for as long as one minute. We never know how long we are able to talk. All of a sudden, we get a "the conversation with xxx has ended" message and, as soon as I click on "Audio" and she accepts, we are connected again, and can talk for a few more seconds. When we both used NetMeeting and Messenger 5, she in spanish and I in english, just like now, we could talk as long as we wanted to, without problems.     - Reinstall MSN Messenger 6.2 ? See my previous posting - Screen delays I need to get a resolution to this issue and am wondering if to reinstall MSN Messenger 6.2 is worth trying. I have seen in other posts that it is not a simple matter of uninstall/reinstall - but changes are needed to the registry. Can you please advise exactly what steps to take. The issue I need to solve is this. Every line of typing done into a chat box takes ages to appear in the history box above, though it gets sent immediately.     - help OMG could somebody please help me? I can not get into my messenger..I have windows SE . I thought I fixed the problem lastnight just to find out it is not working again. I have done everything you have recommended and nothing has worked. This is a sample of what comes up when I try to sign in. A box pops up and says Messenger has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Then it says Please tell Microsoft about this problem we have created an error report that you can send to help us improve messenger. We will treat this report as confidential and anonymous. Then there are two options Click on either send error report or don't send. When you go to send error report it tells u it has been sent and then another box pops up and says you have preformed an illegal action and windows will now close down.     - Camera problems Please help, I have been having great video and audio conversations with one of my relatives in the USA using messenger. (I am in the UK). I have added another relative to my list and when we try to start a video conversation they can see me but I can not see them. We can both hear each other. I have a picture of a camera with a red cross at the top the screen. I asked them to try audia tuning wizard. They got a message saying the camera is not connected in or in use by another program. I asked them to go to task manager and the only programs running were messenger and the connection we had. They went to control panel and checked the camera was working Ok. It was. The connection to my other relative still works without a problem. I have used Yahoo messenger to speak to the relatives I am having a problem with and we both could see and hear each other. It is just of inferior quality to messenger. I have got them to remove yahoo messenger using add/remove programs thinking it was a camera sharing issue. This still did not work.     - installation problem I was having problems signing into MSN the other day. After logging in messenger would get stuck and shut itself off. After this had been going on for awhile I decided to uninstall MSN and redownload it. When I went to the MSN site to redownload the software the 6.58 MB file would download only a few kb and then stop. The file fully downloads now but when I try to install it I get this message. "The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2894." then I get a message that says. "MSN messenger setup has failed with error code: '1603'. Please go to the MSN messenger website and download the software from there."     - Can't sign-In I can't seem to sign-in to MSN Messenger 6.2 in about four days now. I can sign into hotmail and send/recieve emails so there is no problem with my username/password. But today I found out something real strange. I have another hotmail account which I use seldomly, and when I used this account, I could connect without any problems. Also I tried signing in with my normal account with Windows Messenger and it worked fine. The weirdest thing is that when I went to one of my friends homes and connected from my account using MSN Messenger 6.2 on his PC, it worked! I've tried everything I can think of like uninstalling and reinstalling, repairing using the setup, system restore but nothing seems to work.     - MSN sign in When trying to sign into MSN I am asked if I want to connect to the internet using my existing service provider. Then I get the message 'connecting to MSN please wait'.     - repeating select a contact dialog box System XP Home Messenger 6.2 5 users Problem: Repeat dialog box of Select a contact that is never ending When Messenger is activated, either on line, off line, by any of the users, the sign-in screen appears and then the 1st Select a contact box stating to add a contact. This dialog box repeats many times and clutters up the task bar. I have seen it up to 50 repeats. It also stops any processing of other dialog boxes. I have uninstalled rebooted and reinstalled and the same thing happens. As a side note a program, called HI!.exe is running and must be "end task" before the shut down occurs.     - Hello I have a problem and I hope you can help me with it. I have MSN Messenger5.0, and windows 98. Before you'll suggest me I'll say that I can't upgrade my Messenger because the new versions are disconnecting me from the internet while I use them, because of the Router I suppose. Anyway, not long ago my computer was sent to a technician (before that the messenger had been working fine), and because of viruses and other problems he had to format drive C:\. I got back my computer, and in the same time we connected to 1.5 Mb speed ADSL. I installed messenger 5.0 again and it was workinf OK. Because I thought our router's definition were changed I tried to install Messenger 6.2 but it still did problems. I had rmoved it, and installed messenger 5.0 again. I don't remember if it worked OK for one time but since then it didn't connect. The messenger says there is a problem in the sing-up name, or the password, or the service, but all are correct and working. I ried couple of sing-up names... I don't have a firewall (but I do have an AVG anti-virus), and in the other copmuters in my home net the messenger is working fine (messenger 5.0 of course). What should I do???? I have gone into the preferences and told it not to run in the background but when I look at the task manager list the msmsgs.exe is still running. We are hjaving trouble having audio conversations on
Messenger, though video seems generally OK. However, once
we sort out the audio problem, is it feasible to have BOTH
audio and video at once (assumiong one has the bandwidth
on say cable)?
