I've not been able to find a free-text feedback mechanism to tell the folks
at MSN how I feel about their Messenger. I did complete their feedback form,
but it's straight-jacket type form didn't satisfy my need to complain. So I
hope this post reaches someone over there who's making decisions.

I've been using messenger services for a few years. I use Hotmail and other
free web-based mailers as well. The advertisements on these pages are
annoying but I figure I'm getting a free service, so... On MSN Messenger,
however, the advertisement at the bottom of the contact list page has always
bothered me. I kept using it and upgrading when they wanted me too, however,
because I liked some of the added features.

Today, however, an advertisement for a movie appeared on the bottom of a
chat window. I'd never seen this, or at least never noticed, before. I
proceeded immediately to uninstall the MSN Messenger and reinstall the boring
Windows Messenger. And I'm now looking into Trillian again. So, to those at
MSN, reguarding you're constant progression in the barrage of advertising
that I'm sure is padding some pockets over there, YOU'RE LOSING CUSTOMERS FOR
IT!

Thanks you for lisenting.

Hi Rich,

Which locale are you in? Some locales (for instance, Canada) are extremely light on ads
(they're there but they change rarely and are usually just a static image).

I haven't seen his movie ad myself, but I assume it was full blown (flash) video, which I
also think is unacceptable as well. I'll be sure to pass this along. Thank you for your
feedback!

150 milion users, or so I read somewhere. Even if they lose 10% and make
20% more money, it's worth it.

Google is into ads, and MS wants to be a major player as well, so they use
(amongst others) MSN to promote MSN Search, and give you ads all over the
place.

It's free, so learn to live with it, or use an alternative client, or wait
until it has been hacked away.
