msn messanger 6.0 error 2755
I am trying to install msn 6.0 but everytime i get this
error message :( and i am not sure why this is happening,
please if anyone knows let me know. A few friends have
been waiting for me to get on msn.
There was also another erro, but i have only gotten it 1
time, and sorry to say i dont know what it is. I

Firewall
My office has some sort of firewall in place, which prevents me using
Messenger. Is there any way that I can bypass the restrictions so that
I can use Messenger without requiring the cooperation of the System

How can I de-install the windows messenger? It is realy
annoying that it keeps poppin up, even though I don't use
it. I allready tried telling the programme that it
doesn't have to try to make a connection automatically,
but I keep seeing the little icon on the right ... (not

Blocking outbound file transfer in MSN messenger v6
Hi..
I'm system administrator of a financial company,
and my boss required that all outbound file trasmission
through MSN v6 should be blocked ASAP..
It is suspected that someguy in our office, transmitted
sensitive file(including customer's private info) through
MSN v6 messenger..
Well, I found that it is very difficult to block outbound
file transfer between MSN v6's
In the previours version, I knew port 6891-6900 range..and
blocking those port would do..
Please let me know how to block outfound file transfer in
V6..

Logitech Camera not Working
I have looked everywhere and found no conclusive answers. Maybe one of you
can shed some light on this.
I have a Logitech QuickCam Express on an XP MSN 6.0 environment. The camera
works fine on netMeeting or on Movie Maker. The "Scanners and Cameras"
control panel applet also works fine... (it shows a live picture)
The problem is with MSN, when I use the "Audio and Tunning Wizard" and
choose the camera from the list a message appears stating that the camera I
selected is not working properly...
On other newsgroups and on Logitech site they mentioned problems if using
the Via chip (USB) and recommend an upgrade. I have done this with no
success.
My question is about the reasons the camera works fine with this other
software's except MSN Messenger in the same PC!!!???
Is there any incompatibility?

Error in DIBENG.DLL
This doesn't happen everytime I'm in Messenger, but it
does happen frequently. I'll will get kicked out of
Messenger with this message - Msnmgr has caused an error
in dibeng.dll. Msnmgr will now close. I have Messenger

JONATHON - HELP PLEASE I'M GOING MAD - AUDIO PROBS
bought a new webcam today a logitech zoom cam with in
built microphone. Connects fine - I can produce sound
and video but on MSN MEssenger V 6 when I try to have an
audio conversation with someone neither parties work.
Yesterday we dhad an audio conversation and I was using
my oldmicrophone. The webcam
works today but when we try to have an audio conversation
we just get a message saying trying to connect to
x's computer then cancels out. I am on Windows XP and
broadband and he is on Win ME and dialup but is
connecting at 56kbps I have a firewall but he does not
have a firewall. I have tried both with and without my
firewall connected - am at a loss now what to try. have
checked all congfiguration settings etc. and have even
produced a video with sound. Keep seeing things about
having port 6901 open - how do I do this?
I am now at loss what else to try - can't udnerstand as
it was working yesterday with a different microphone

Can't authenticate WinXP to Exchange
Have searched MS site for a fix...but no go. I get an
error message that the server is unavailable. I have
wiped the c:\program Files\messenger and re-installed the
XP version. (4.7) on 2 occassions. Can anyone help me or
point me in the right direction.

My MSN Messenger id is still tagged with "Email address not verified".
Unfortunately, I no longer have the email from MS that enables the

saving msn im to folder
I would like to save my conversations automatically into a
folder on my hard drive. Some reason my computer wont give
me the option. I go into tools options and messages and
save messages is there but not highlighted and wont allow
me to click on it. Is there a setting on my pc that is

Maintaining microphone preferences
Running the newest MSN Messenger 6.0.0602, is there a way to set
microphone preferences up outside of Audio/Video Tuning Wizard?
I have a laptop with a USB camera / microphone that I will plug in as
desired. But, everytime I unplug the USB device (or boot my laptop
with the camera unplugged), if MSN Messenger is running (which it is
because I always start the program on start-up) my microphone always
defaults to the built in sound card microphone. Thus, after plugging
in the cameram, if I forget to run the wizard I'll do an audio call
and find I have no mic. Then I exit audio, run wizard, and restart
audio.
What I am looking for is someway to have a "preference order" on the
microphone such that I can set it up for USB camera mike, then
built-in sound card mike, then none.
Perhaps this is a feature request :)
Any ideas?

I recently disabled this file through my start-up folder.
When I did I had trouble with logging in and out of hotmail through
Messenger which caused web pages and, at one point my system, to crash.
Out of intrigue more than anything else, I re-enabled the file. Since I
have done this my firewall has been flooded with non-stop connection
attempts [mostly to port 135].
I have read up on this file and no-one seems to have a straight answer
as to it's purpose other than a relation to MSN Messenger. One enquirer
was even told to stop being paranoid and just live with it.
This is chuff all to do with paranoia - I am well aware M$ probably have
my inside leg measurement, despite my best efforts to counteract info
retrieval on their part - this is about my, already crappy, dial-up
connection getting flooded therefore reducing the amount of bandwidth
available to me. And THAT pisses me off.
So... if anyone can allay my fears or offer some kind of solution to

my contacts appear on my son's e-mail list?
Everytime I put my contact in my MSN contacts list, they
appear in my son's e-mail contacts (he's on microsoft
express) I am via microsoft outlook. Can't work out how
it happens, but if I delete them out of his list they
also delete off my MSN list.

Audio Problem
Hi,
My friends can hear me clearly but I can only hear voice that are very
choppy from them.
I tried with a lot of friends and all of them give me this error... I tried
uninstalling and installing again but the problem is still there...
I am on a 256k connection so I think speed is not a problem... Voice on ICQ
and Yahoo messanger sounds fine...

webcam image in display picture?
Hi,
Does anyone know a way to have a webcam image as your display picture? That
it will refresh every ten seconds or something like that..... I can't use
the webcam option in MSN 6.0, I think it's my network's proxyserver. I'm not
able to connect to any other computer other than the ones in our network.

New version available
Due to repeated Registry errors I have uninstalled MSN Messenger v5.0
and installed the previous v4.6 which now appears to have solved the
problem with Windows 98 SE starting. I may have to use v4.6
indefinitely.
I am now getting frequent reminders that a new version is available for
download:
1) A popup up dialogue box in the System Tray when I logon onto MSN that
drops away after about 40 seconds.
2) A banner-ad type pane in the MSN Messenger v4.6 GUI that persists
throughout the session.

Hi,
I have been using MSN Messenger for a few years now, and
decided to change my MSN address as I have a business now
and would like to use it for technical support on my
products. Now I keep being asked to "Verify My Email
Address", but when I click on this option to do so I am
told to try again later. Well I have tried again and again
for a days now, and it seems later is non-existant.
Can someone help me here, and tell me how to manually
verify, or if I can email someone as MSN to verify me?

I am not sure if it refers to Windows Messenger ( which is also present by

Is it a must to allow it to act as a server ?
When acting as a server, it has access to any dir on my computer ?

Hi,
My computer is a Pentium 4 - 1.7, Windows XP SP1.
Installed MSN Messenger 6.02, works great, but I can see Windows Messenger
4.7 is active and it is the default messaging program, so every time i get
an incoming call, Windows Messenger fires up.
I want to change that, so the default will be MSN Messenger.

Jonathan, (spell it correctly this time!) tried that but still the
same.
However, I run Agnitum Outpost, tried switching that off and it works
ok. Before this upgrade it worked perfectly with Outpost running,
does this mean that in order to run Messenger I'll have to disable my
firewall? Seems to defeat the object of having one, no? Is there any
way around this, ideally I would like to run with the firewall active
as I'm on a broadband connection and messenger is on all the time. Is
there any way I can revert to as I was previously? I'm sure I 'll
forget to switch the firewall back on! I run XP and have that
firewall switched off.

can't establish voice conversation
Hi,
I have win98, and recently I was connected to ADSL.
Before that I had dial-up moden, and I was able to make
voice conversations with other computers.
As soon as I installed the ADSL, everytime I try to
invite someone to Voice, it is unable to connect to the
other computer, saying "unable to establish connection"
or something like that. our computer cann't communicate.
Again, this problem is from the day I installed the ADSL.
There is no firewalls in my connection to my server...
I have the msn 6 !

having trouble adding contacts.
i have msn messenger 4.7 installed and i have a .net
passport and here is my problem. i have a friend who uses
messenger but when i send a request to add him to my list
it tells me that he doesn't have a .net passport and it
sends him a message to sign up for a .net passport. i
have tried adding several other contacts also and it
always gives me the same message. i can't uninstall it
because it's part of windows. i did however start up in
safe mode and deleted the folder and reinstalled with the
4.7 but i still get the same problem. anyone have any
clue what the deal is here? any help would be greatly

Messenger Sign Off
In the last few days I've been having problems with
Messenger just signing itself off for no reason at all.
I'm using Version 6 and it's only just started but my
girlfriend has been having exactely the same problem for
about 6 months.
Every now and then Messenger will Sign Off then spend a
few minutes trying to Sign On again, once it's signed on
it then normally signs off. Does anybody know what the

missing dll file
I installed Messenger 6 with no problems. However whenever

Messenger Service
Ok. Maybe I'm not in the right place but I hope this is a
good place to start. I have never had many problems with
pop-ups until lately. If I stay connected I can receive
up to 70 (YES I SAID 70) popups in one day. What is the
deal and how do I get rid of it?!?!? They are all from
Messenger Service. I only get maybe 3 in a month other

Messenger 6.0 Unstable loggin on/off
Hi I am being logged on and off from messenger like 2-6
times in an hour - especieally when working on the
machine. I am also experiencing that some messages does
not get through - without any errormessage. Have
anybody any ideas to solve that two issues i will be
