For both IM services, can someone tell me how to block other people
from seeing that I'm online, but still allow me to see if they're
online? If I "block" someone, they're literally removed from the list
even though they're actually online. So, is there a way for me to be
invisible to others when I'm online but still allow me to see who's
online?

Thanks

Greetings,

Actually on MSN/Windows Live Messenger, if you block someone, you can still see if they're
online or offline, either by where they're grouped (if you have offline contacts grouped
together -- it's an option) or by the green icon (which will be gray when they're offline).

On AIM however, when you block someone, they go offline. Although AIM does allow you to sign
into multiple screen names at once, you could make another screen name and add that contact
there to see if they're online or not.
