    - Hotmail access down? Having read several thread is there a problem with Hotmail access right now? BAsically the page is slow to load and eventually says done but just displays a blank white screen. It does this on all computers I use now - yesterday it did it now and again but now it wont load at all. Same thing occurs for a couple of friends of mine.     - Messemger windows and mac I hope someone can give me the answer to this. I have a PC with windows XP and my sister in Europe just purchased a Mac. We installed MSN messenger and when we log on we can see that we are both online and we can have instant message (written) conversation however we cannot talk.     - Audio with MSN Mess. 6.2 and XP_SP2 - Another testimonial I have the same problem. I am looking through forums, newsgroups, websites and tech notes all over the place. The conclusion I have come to is that there is a possible combatability issue between SBC, netgear routers and XP sp2. Preferably the last has caused the probblems. Before Oct. 2004 everything was working. After that two things happened. First, SBC was doing repairs at our neiborhood (service was on and off all the time) and second I installed sp2. Now I am administering 3-4 computers at various locations but with the same OSs, namely XP-sp2. When I connect to overseas from the university everything is OK When I connect through the router (at home) to any computer connected to the router, also everything OK. However, I have audio connectivity problems when I connect from home through the router and through the Cable modem (the network is using cable modem around the subdivision then connects to SBC's leased line or something, I'm not sure). I don't have an IP address dedicated to my connection (the router's IP looks like 172.0.0.xx so I'm guessing it takes it from another router) but when I log on to sites that tell you your IP, I get an SBC, Ameritech IP (checking its DNS). Now going back to the connectivity issue, this is what happens: With MSN Messenger 6.2, I can use File transfers, video (both ways), chat, haven't tried remote assistance but when audio is involved nothing happens. Noone hears nothing. With Netmeeting (NM) the person can hear me I can't hear him. But NM needs I think a specific IP. I have found a direct VoIP client (Voiperized for anyone intrested) that also has the same effect: I don't hear a thing but the other side can hear me. Then there is Skype. I have installed that on my University computer and at home but havn't been able to connect because of audio issues. (I have to be at the office and someone has to be at home, I can't try with remote desktop). But the drawback with skype is that the download is 10MB and to ask someone to download it through dialup is too much if I am not sure that it is going to work. So that is my situation. I don't know if I mentioned that before October everything was working fine with MSN Messenger. My solution is to wait. Either some MS update, the next version of MSN Messenger or a Firmware upgrade for my netgear router. Tag: MSN 7 Tag: 61678
