    - False warning to upgrade to messenger v6 I have the latest version of messenger installed on my system. However, I utilize a third party app. to connect (Trillian Pro v1.0). Ever morning when I log in, I get a chat message from MSN Messenger to upgrade to the latest version ... but, as I've mentioned already, I already have.     - MSN Messenger 6 doesn't display lvback.gif in contacts area anymore Running WinXP pro and MSN Messenger 6.0.0602 I had placed a custom lvback,gif file into my messenger folder and messenger has been displaying it for awhile now (months), as the background on the main contact page. Yesterday when I booted up, the gif no longer showed up. I checked and it was still there. I replaced it with another file just in case but it does not show either. I copied the original lvback.gif over from Windows Messenger5 and tried it but it too does not showup. I uninstalled it, removed its folder in c:\program files as well as the folder in my documents & settings folder in the application section. i reinstalled it and still no gif shows up, even though one is there.     - Messenger 6 keeps saying it needs to be updated I have a curious problem that has affected a few installs of MSN Messenger 6. At our University we have been using "remote assistance" to a great extent but suddently on the aforementioned PC's Messenger will announce that "remote assistance is not supported on this version of Messenger. Please upgrade to version 6". When viewing the Help Menu to see "about MSN Messenger" is says that version 6 is installed. Anyone have a clue why this might be happening? TIA Tag: ....... Tag: 32683

    - Someone hacking into my account someone has been hacking into my account to the poiint where microsoft has suspended my account. i can't get in because too many unsuccessful attempts have been made. i notice someone was using my account last night and quickly went in and changed the password. i thought this would prevent it from being altered, but it didn't. my friend had the same thing done to his computer, with the result being a closure of his account. can someone please help?     - Problem with MSN Messenger. Hi, I am having a problem with MSN Messenger version 6.0. As soon as I turn on my computer Msn tries to access the internet whether I am on line or not. Even when recording music from LPs to CDs it keeps trying to access the net; The problem is so bad that there are gaps in the music on the newly created CDs where I have clicked the Cancel button on the dial up box as the music is actually being transferred to the CD. The tracker icon pops out with the message, [ C;\Program files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe is preparing to access the internet.] How can I solve this problem so that MSN Messenger only accesses the internet when I want it to and does not interfere with my other programs / work, when I am off line.     - cant sign into msn messenger can any1 help me? for the past 3 days now I have been trying to sign into msn messenger but only to find that a window pops up saying that you cant be signed in as servers may be out temp or i have forgotten my password. This is false as my password is correct and server status page reports no errors.     - messenger is meesing with my graphics i'm having a problem with an ibm version computer. i have windows xp home. everytime i restart the computer...or turn it on, my graphics (bit resolution) reverts to 8 bit...instead of 32 bit. If i enter properties and reselect 32 bit it's fine until i exit messenger and bring it back up...or reboot. the initial setup of xp acknowledges the 32 bit 3d nividia card and have no trouble with any other programs doing this to me. is there a setting or conflict in 6.0 which is doing this to me? When I try to change my password, it tells me that it cannot find the server.     - autocomplete sign-in I have found that when the sign-in prompt comes up for messenger, all email addresses that have previously been used from this computer are shown in a drop-down box from the "email address" field. I have "autocomplete" turned off in internet explorer, but the addresses continue to appear in both windows messenger (for XP) and MSN messenger (which I downloaded).     - MEssenger upload problem Hi, Not sure how to explain this problem properly... but I'll try. I'm chatting a mate on msn messenger 6, and choose to send him a file (mp3, zip of photos I've taken etc). After a short while (usually between 1 and 2 Mb of the upload), y internet connection stops working... or at least something seems to set up a block. MSN messenger signs out, and when i try to sign back in it tells me I'm set up through a proxy or a firewall etc... The only way I can solve this is to reboot. The problem only started happening AFTER i installed the latest service pack from Windows Update, and subsequently installed the USB 2.0 Controller using the sp1 drivers (new computer, motherboard CD didn;'t have proper drivers for it)! If my connection cut off, I'd blame that, but, I stay connected to the internet, just can't do anythign with it! When I try to reconnect after disconnecting, I can't and have to reboot. I@m not sure which group should be reading this post, but, as the problem seems to be triggered by sending files in Messenger 6, I'll start here! Any help GRATEFULLY received!!! Jon Tag: ....... When i install or try to uninstall either version i get an error message The fixture you are trying to use is on a network resource which is unavailable.
