Spare a thought this holiday season
As the holidays get nearer most of up will be preparing for the festive
season by sending time with friends and our loved ones. The festive season
ought to be happy joyful time for all, however sadly this is not the case
for all. So I ask you all to spare a thought for all those poor MCNGP
members who unfortunately have no friends, whose only crumb of comfort at
this time of year will be posting to this newsgroup on the 25th. I know they
are all jerks, but thy are all alone with no one to comfort them. So please
remember them while you are making merry and enjoying the Christmas sprit.
So please raise a glass of wine and spare a thought for the unfortunate
MCNGP while you are eating your Christmas turkey and mince pies for they
will have none. Tag: OT: It's not one world Tag: 208093
Windows Vista: First Impressions
I've got a few statements to make and I'd like to make them public so
that those at Microsoft who are still developing the standard user
version can take note of:
1. The installation of Windows in the GUI while in Windows XP
Professional SP1 or 2 should include the option to format the computer
and start from a clean install via format under the advanced options.
2. The installation of Windows in the GUI while in Windows XP
Professional SP2 should include the option to partition the hard-drive
the same way that the bootable install allows for such as "Expand" (the
partition) and "Format" (under the condition that a restart is going to
occur and boot into the Installation GUI.
3. During the transition where there are Windows Loading screens where
there is simply a load bar and there is the copyright of the Microsoft
Corporation, the logo should be above this.
4. Installation should prompt the users in a more friendly way in
regards to restarting the computer. Instead of when I have to look at
that message for the 1^345738957209872348907th time (which happens to
call an Islington flat) that is quite impersonal and robotic, I would
like to see something that seems a bit more human as the intial
impression of Vista is impressive enough that it should make up for it.
Someone fire the Q/A editor.
5. Did you have the idea that Ubuntu, Mac OS X, and Windows XP thrown
together would not be noticed? Give us all a break. My computer is
good enough and a stupid score of 2.3 as an overall based off of Windows
Aero being my lowest, lets get some updates please.
The more I get pissed off with the new OS which actually works quite
well, so far that is, then I'll write more.

I gained new insight into the food retail world when my son, newly employed
at a local move theater, tells me they must up-sell or they'll be written
up.
So if someone doesn't order a drink or candy, they need to suggest it, and
if you buy a medium drink or popcorn, they need to remind you that "You get
free refills with a large, and it's only 75 cents more!"
He says most people go ahead and buy the large, but no one ever comes back
for a refill. I mean, who gets up in the middle of a movie for a popcorn
refill after you've eaten a large greasy tub of the stuff?
So next time someone asks you - "You want fries with that?" remember -
it's their job, and they're being a good employee.

Citrix
Last year I received my MCSE but I have to admit I was a "book" MCSE with
limited praticial expereince.
So I started working part time for a local non profits Info Sys Dept. We
have a single Win2003 domain. After working for a few months I could not help
noticing that we use probably less than 1% of the capabilities of a Windows
domain. Essentially we use the domain to authenticate logons and that is
about it.
Recently the boss mentioned getting Citrix and talked like this was the
answer to everything. I could not help asking "Why are we getting a new
management system when we use so little of the one we have that is paid
for?"
But this begs the question: What are the advantages and disadvantages of
using Citirx within a Windows domain.
Input would be appreciated. Tag: OT: It's not one world Tag: 208010

MCSE stats
I'm looking for a good place to get statistics on how many people hold
MCSE certs. Preferrebly broken out into 2003, 2000, NT4, etc.
Thanks in adavnce! Tag: OT: It's not one world Tag: 208003
Do all MCSE's think they know more than all other MCSE's?
I was in another NG - completely unrelated to Microsoft (CADD related
actually) and the subject of MCSE certification was brought up. Now
there are two guys battling over everything. They both think their way
is the only way. One of them is way off of course, suggesting to use
brain dumps to get my certs, but their battle is over everything from
where to store profiles to what an MCSE even does in the field.
Basically they are ripping each other new arse wholes. Reminded me of

Fsuk $tarbucks
I discussed this with another MCNGP recently, but the biggest thing that
I'm about to c/p is my bulletin from MySpace. It apparently got enough
hype that the District Manager got to read it. However, that's exactly
what I wanted. Here we go. Unminge all the words and you'll see the
original post.
***
Fsuk Starbucks. It's quite simple. I need not go into extravagant
details, but FSUK STARBUCKS. First off, you're a gddmn moron if you're
going to pay 4.18 for a gddmn cup of fsuking burnt-a$$ coffee that I
most likely re-steamed the milk for about 5 times already (burnt milk
curdles, mind you) and *forgot* to calibrate the espresso machine
...which makes your espresso taste even more so like a$$h0le in a cup. I
could use 4.18 to go buy a nice meal from Wal-Mart and feed at LEAST 3
people. Fsuking idiots.
Since I was fortunate enough to become "Benefits Specialist", the best
way I can see screwing over the company other than announcing my
employment coming to an end when I get my weekly mark out, since my
Aetna Health Insurance kicked in about 50 minutes ago and last until
December 31st, is to leave with a nice "Thanks, and you have a fsuking
wonderful time getting screwed on your hours and trying to make a living
for yourself at a hell-hole like this where your store manager is only
concerned about his Christmas Bonus"...something like that is a nice
warm touch right where you want to go postal on a b!tch and rip their
fsuking lungs out and feed it to a group of ravenous hyenas.
As I said - FUSK STARBUCKS. Fusk this bull$h!t "Coffee Master" status,
Fsuk Curtis Atwood, and Fsuk Blake for trying to cut our hours at one of
the most crucial times of the year for people's families and their
children's well-being. Its best referred to from an old tale called "A
Christmas Carol" where Tiny Tim needs a new crutch and Bob Kratchet
needs to feed his family. Well, gddmnit, I have fsuking bills to pay and
mouths to feed and 23 hours at 7.75 a fsuking hour is not going to cut
it, especially when Curtis KNOWS I need at LEAST 30 hours to survive and
be uncomfortable but pay bills.
FSUK STARBUCKS AND WHEN I GO ASK THE DUDE NEXT DOOR WHY HE'S GOT THE
"DON'T BUY FROM STARBUCKS" SIGN IN HIS WINDOW, I'LL LET YOU KNOW
WHY....EVERYONE EVERY MOTHERFSUKING PERSON THAT COMES THROUGH DRIVE-THRU
IS DYING TO KNOW.
Fsuk Starbucks.

The post was later asked to be removed by someone very close to me as
the above information does tell the "new hires" that they're making WAY
less than what even I was making at sweat shop labor style. It's
typical for a new company to move into your area and then pay higher to
get staffing and then lower the rates. We were asked not to discuss it,
but I never signed anything saying I couldn't.
After the post was removed, I posted something else. Here that is.
***
With much reluctance and apprehension, I've removed the post regarding
my former employment. As far as I'm concerned, only the truth was stated
and that defamation of character is not an issue. More so, MY 1st
Amendment Rights for "Freedom of speech" have been violated by being
asked to remove this post since I have no affiliation with the company
as Alabama is an "At-Will Employment State" and from my knowledge of the
Internet, it is not governed by anything but the DMCA, the GNU GPL, and
the Internet Laws passed in 1996 by Bill Clinton to remove invasive
privacy measures being enforced by various agencies within the
government. Do not think for one second that I take this lightly and it
is not every day that you have a business entrepreneur such as myself
with the know-how to a lead business larger than the store I have left
not know how to pull certain strings and piss people off. Maybe that's
why some of you think I'm so "bossy". Fine, keep your opinion to your
MySpace page and not try and create real-life drama.
After all of that is said, all I will state is that I hold true to
everything that I have said (if you read it, good; if you didn't, oh
well), my opinion stays the same, I've removed the people on my friends
list that I believe would create drama within the company and pass this
information directly to the source of which I received this knowledge (I
know who you are and I hope that you don't ever speak to me), and I hope
that everyone within the company enjoys a happy holiday season from the
gift of hours that I have left a gap to fill.
***
You ask, why the hell would you post this again? Well, quite simple. I
have the right to say whatever I want so long as it doesn't infringe
upon the rights of others. NNTP seems to get out there and make itself
global. And by no means am I telling any of you to not drink Starbucks,
-backwards is Skcubrats mind you- but if you do then we should chat.
When all is said and done, I'll not be posting anything else on MySpace.
It will only serve as a placeholder for my website that I'm putting up,
http://www.turkreno.com. If you want to see work so far, contact me
directly because I don't want bots scanning that page just yet to map
stuff.

Age: 49
Hometown: Stockholm, Sweden.
Family: Married, three children.
Once Discovery reaches 62 miles above Earth, Fuglesang will become the
first Swede in space, a title he has been working toward since 1992
when he joined the European Space Agency. Along with Germany's Thomas
Reiter, he was selected for a joint mission between Europe and Russia
in 1995 but ended up being part of the back-up crew.
"I realize there is a lot of interest in Sweden and I'm happy about
that," he said.
Fuglesang received a master's degree in engineering physics from the
Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. He earned a doctorate in
experimental particle physics from the University of Stockholm and
later became a docent in particle physics at the university.
He joined the astronaut corps in 1996 and then went on to train on a
Russian Soyuz spacecraft, earning a certificate that would allow him to
command a Soyuz during a return trip to Earth.
During Discovery's mission, he will conduct the first two spacewalks
with Curbeam.
A former Swedish national Frisbee champion, Fuglesang plans to bring a
Frisbee up to space. During a live satellite link-up with children on
Earth, he'll try to set the record for maximum time aloft. Of course,
he'll get an assist from zero gravity. Tag: OT: It's not one world Tag: 207904

70-284: unable to run Exchange services using a service account
I'm working through the MS study kit for 70-284. I installed Exchange
2003 using a service account set up for the purpose; all OK. Initially
the services run as LocalSystem so I changed them to run using the
service account.
However the System Attendant now does not start. I get an Event ID
1005 with text: "Unexpected error The logon attempt failed ID no:
8009030c Microsoft Exchange System Attendant occurred. "
That would suggest a problem with authenticating as the service
account, yet I was logged on with that account and the Exchange
Management service starts up fine using it, so surely there can't be
an authentication issue.
If I change just System Attendant back to LocalSystem, then when I try
to start the information store I get this:
>Error 0x514 occurred while attempting to enable the "Generate Security Audits" privilege.
>
>To grant the Generate Security Audits privilege to the Microsoft Exchange service account, open the Windows 2000 Group Policy editor.
>If the machine is not domain controller, select the Local Computer policy object.
>If it is a domain controller, select the browse button and select the "Domain Controllers.<domain>" container. Within this container, select the "Default Domain Controllers Policy" object.
> Under either "Local Computer policy" or "Default Domain Controllers Policy", select the "Computer Configuration" container. Under the "Computer Configuration" container, select the "Windows Settings" container. Under the "Windows Settings" container, select the "Security Settings" container. Under the "Security Settings" container, select the "Local Policies" container. Under the "Local Policies" container, select the "User Rights Assignment" container.
> Under "User Rights Assignment", double click the "Generate Security Audits" object and add the Microsoft Exchange service account to the list of users granted the "Generate Security Audits" right. Click "OK", and close the editor.
>
If I do grant this right to the service account and start the
information store again, this time I get an application error:
Faulting application store.exe, version 6.5.6944.3, faulting module
unknown, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x695319ec.
For the time being I've reverted to the LocalSystem account but I'd be
interested if anyone else has seen this and knows what causes it. Tag: OT: It's not one world Tag: 207858

MI5 Persecution: BBC h2g2 online
BBC h2g2 16/Sept/1999
The BBC's h2g2 website is billed as "Earth Edition of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy!". Naturally, one of its pages
is about me, me, me. It starts off with the lines;
Every now and then something comes along which makes you
think "Ah! That's what the Internet is for!" Mike Corley
is one such case.
The page itself can be found at http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/alabaster/A164404
The user comments linked from h2g2 are less than respectful, but given the point of view my website promulgates that is
understandable. It's true that without the communications ability afforded by the internet, which came along at just the
right time, my complaints would be getting nowhere. But that's a two edged sword also; miniature cameras only appeared
around 1990, so the advantage of technology is up to the adopter. Secret service intrigues, and on the other side of the
coin human paranoia, have both been going on for centuries; what changes now is an increased technologisation of both sides.

MI5 Persecution: abuse in set-up situations and in public
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
-= purpose in publicizing it; censorship in uk.* newsgroups -=
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
The postings to uk.misc newsgroup generated a very defensive reaction from
Usenet readers in the UK. So much so, that they tried strenuously to
suppress what was being said, both by breaking the rules of netiquette in
their responses on the forum, and directly by action to revoke the account
from which the postings were issued.
Yet the postings were within the normal boundaries of behaviour for
uk.misc, and other less partisan spectators did not see justice in the
censorship which was effected, as the following excerpt shows;
:Karen Lofstrom (lofstrom@lava.net) wrote
:>It does seem that the frequency and the size of his posts are
:>approaching net abuse. However, IMHO, they aren't quite there yet. If
:>his postmaster were to act in this instance, it would raise troubling
:>censorship issues.
The inescapable conclusion of the censorship effected on the uk.*
newsgroups is that the British are intent on their wrongdoing remaining
concealed, and therefore seek to subvert and suppress freedom of speech,
not only in their own country where the media shows xenophobic bias and
bile against all perceived enemies within and without, but also in other
countries which have their own statutes to guarantee the basic human right
of free speech.
It is absolutely necessary to bring their hate campaign out into the open
where it can be placed under scrutiny and the harassers seen for what they
are. That is the only way of making it impossible for the security services
to carry it out. There is a wider dimension, though. Xenophobia as
demonstrated by British people and institutions over the last few years
belongs to the same stable as racial hatred. In one case, two youths on a
Tube train made that racism explicit by referring to their victim as a
"soft toy, not up to British Standards". Doubtless others victimize partly
on the basis of race (isn?t it odd that they chose to torment someone who
is not ethnically English?) while expressing their abuse in terms of
another genetic attribute, namely mental illness. All xenophobia on a
genetic basis is wrong, but while racial insults are illegal, abusing the
mentally ill is neither against the law nor subject to similar condemnation
when it is exposed.

PM: >it worth the while of the state to spend over one and a quarter million
PM: >on you?
Those are pretty much the sort of calculations that went through my head
once I stopped to consider what it must be costing them to run this
operation. The partial answer is, there have been periods when the
intensity has been greater, and times when little has happened. In fact,
for much of 1993 and the first half of 1994, very little happened. Although
I don't think that was for reasons of money - if they can tap into the
taxpayer they're not going to be short of resources, are they?
The more complete answer is in the enormity of what they're doing. Relative
to the cost to British pride of seeing their country humiliated for the
persecution of their own citizens, isn't is worth the cost of four or five
people to try to bring things to a close in the manner they would wish? To
the government a million or two is quite honestly nothing - if they can
convince themselves of the necessity of what they're doing, resources will
not be the limiting factor.

CBT Nuggers or VTC, better?
Hello
I know training video packs does not cover all the topics and one
should not rely on these fully. I am going to read the Microsoft
Training Kit books. Just to give me a good start and an understanding
of MCSE exams I am going to buy CBT Nugget CDs on 70-290 and 70-291
exams. There is also one provided by VTC. Have anybody tried any of
these? Can you tell me which one is better?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

OT: Status Quo
It's been 9 glorious days since I had to drag my arse
out of bed and drive into work.
They say the perfect job is one you would do even if
you weren't getting paid for it.
So now I just need to figure out how to make the
mortgage payment while laying on my sofa watching
college football and washing down a steamy bowl of
homemade chili with an ice cold brewski.
I see TGP has been hard at work - the place
looks just like we left it. Thanks man.
Guess what else I did with my time off? That's right,
I read J. Friedl's "Mastrering Regular Expressions".
I must be a nerd.

Printer Anywhere (Beta) Free Download
PrinterAnywhere has just come out with a no-brainer of a product that I
think will turn out to be quite useful, and best of all, it?s free!
PrinterAnywhere lets you share your printer with someone else, or vice
versa across the internet! Instead of sending someone an attachment of
a contract, just print it directly to their printer. You won?t have to
worry about people not being able to open files that you send them, all
you?ve got to do is set the connection up (takes less than a minute) and
print from whatever program you created it in, to their printer.
Excellent. If you?ve got an internet connection, a printer that you can
print to, and Windows XP, you really can print anywhere

Test delivery problems
I had to wait two hours for my exam (70 536). Since I had set off less than
three hours for it, I got into problems. I was lucky and passed, but I got
fatigued and did a poor job the rest of the day (which ultimatly is money
coming out of my pocket, money I would rather use on my children).
Is this normal?
What is reasonable compansation for this?
Anyone have experience with this kind of situation?
