I used an instructor-led security course in class, 5 years of being a little
shit script kiddy, and cisco press's security+ guide to network security
fundamentals.
I didn't really do any practice exams, I've always thought that those were
cheating.
I don't think this exam can be really passed without going further in depth
on the domain requirements: Go to the kerberos RFC site, and poke around.
Analyze IPSec... etc etc.
My security course schoolwork lasted a week and a half, (it's not a boot
camp :/) and I had to spend a few hours every day for a week or so patching
up the missing details. I got bored one day sitting in cisco class and
bought a voucher, and figured I'd waste a few hundred bucks. Woot, passed.
It's quite the accomplishment, considering I did my studying during the last
day of my CCNA studies.
(I just wrote my CCNA 4 final 80%], my CCNA voucher [88%], and Security+
exam [772/900 ~ 764 pass] all in one day, my head hurts ~~ BUT I GOT A JOB
OFFER TODAY!!! What a great day)
So, to sum it up:
I should have studied for another 2 weeks than I did. I spend 2 weeks
studying, but I've had lots of background. I've had a week and a half in
addition to my study time of instruction. I used the Cisco Press Security+
guide to Network Security Fundamentals (available from course.com).
