What are the port numbers , if I want to connect a VPN
remote client to a VPN remote server;over Broadband
through a firewalled router.

Any tips on this???

How do I do it?

I have a router.

I have the general idea but don't want to get hickups.

Can I use my same broadband account at a remote location
or would I have to register the new telephone number
(remote client) with the Broadaband ISP provider before
going through the ISP or with it ?(which one??)

Doesn't the remote client location have to be tested for
broadband connectivity first by the ISP ??

thanks

RESPONSE FROM SHAFIY2K:

Hi
First this type of connections are basically called
as a Router to Router VPN connection. Actually this is
not a small process, to do this you have to configure a
VPN Server first, Then router, then ISP. In client side
ISP then Router then VPN Client. The connectivity is like
this. To make a VPN to run on server make that server as
a RAS server first and open a miniports for that server,
and allow the outbound connections, then get a static ip
address from your ISP.

As you know that VPN service is using L2TP and PPTP
protocol for its encrypted communication, please select
it first. Then install a router, Configure a router to
work with your ISP and your domain, and if you ae having
a firewall means open a pors for L2TP and PPTP
protocols.

In client side, configure your router to work with
ISP, then configure a VPN Client, and you have to select
authentication types also, if you are selecting a
KEREBROS type authenticationn means you have to open a
port of that protocol in youf campus FIREWALL.

Hope, this will helps you better...
