Website is up!!!
The all new mcngp.com and mcngp.co.uk are now officially up and running. New
user registrations are now enabled at www.mcngp.com. There are still a few
bugs to work out and a lot of content to be added back to the site. Register
early and you'll be one of the first to post in the all new "Super Sekrit
Forums". After Friday, I'll be watching my kids while my ex gets her tonsils
taken out so I won't be able to do much work on the site for about a week or
two. So if you register and don't get promoted to L33t status, get over it!!!

Question for MCNGP who flame others....
I have been lurking around here for quite some time, and posting a
little... here and there.
My question is for the MCNGP's who are constantly bashing others, and
belittling them.... I am not mentioning anyone specifically, simply
because i know that some of you are really genuine in your replys, but
you have to get sarcastic with some of the posts simply because of the
sheer ignorance of the person posting... I understand that. But i still
wonder...
What Microsoft Certifications do you have?? Are most of you 2003 or 2000??

OT: The Saga Continues... [and wait, there's MORE]
Rock stars, religious leaders, politicians, iconoclasts, billionaires, and
homeless alike congregated today at the world's religious centers to
celebrate the arrival of That Which Was Exactly As The Obelisk Has
Foretold -- and it IS exactly as the obelisk has foretold -- which should
come as no surprise to those who believed in the obelisk in the first place.
The aligning of the fourth moon of Jupiter, congrouos with the teachings of
Archimedes, and shaped like a triangle made of the number 4, awakened
something within the deep recesses of the human group consciousness,
something unlike anything else that had ever been awakened within the deep
recesses of the human group consciousness, and boy, it was something, and it
was exactly as the obelisk has foretold.
This cosmological event, written of in the blood of virgin sacrifice by the
Mayans, encoded into the universe by those who brought the crop circles,
brought forth from the boundless depths of deep depths of deepness in the
age of Stonehenge, is now yours to enjoy forever...
Behold, by the power of Grayskull, the only tool in the universe that
doesn't use pi to calculate the area of the circle, it has finally arrived
to save us all from the depths of deep depths of deepness that come from not
having a tool to generate acronyms for Neil. IT IS... the Neil Acronym

Reality Check info
Hi
I got a bachelor in Management Information System in 1988. Following that,
I got a MBA and followed doctoral studies in unrelated fields
(international management and political sciences). Since 1990 and up to
very recently, I worked both as university teacher and international
consultant in management.
During all these years, I not only closely followed technology changes and
self-trained myself to security, network, server deployment, vpn, backup
strategies, cms deployment, etc, but also regularly made few bucks with
small IT consultation contracts. I've also been the part-time IT
administrator of a small daycare for the last two years.
I always learned fast and by myself. It's almost a trademark for me.
I am looking for a career change. I'm fed up with teaching.
Although I am considered a "computer wizard" by many, the IT jobs I seek
unfortunately require more than "self-learning" abilities but real formal
certifications like MSCE. I want that certification.
As I understand it, I just have to self-study material at home and schedule
exams with PearsonVue to a local test center for a total cost of 750$
(6x150$) to get the certification.
Considering that I am already familiar with significant parts of the examen
content, that I can have free access to most self-training materials and
that I have strong abilities learning by myself:
1) do you believe self-learning is sufficent to get the certification?
2) what timeframe would be realistic to complete the certification? (my
guess is between 6 months at best and a year at worst)
3) Will the certification be automatically granted at the end of the sixth
exam or are there additionnal conditions/procedures to be followed?
Thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge with me. I spent some time
reading MS webpages about certifications but some wordings and informations
are more confusing than enlightening. This is my first certification ever. Tag: OT: mean parents Tag: 186462

Something for lowdes gtright and the rest of the A-MCNGP gang to
You wonder why the MCNGP are so mean to people who are asking for
information on how to fluff their way through the MCSE exams (or who
want to know what br@indump is the best one to help them pass it without
actually having the experience.
Here is a perfect example of what they are trying to prevent.. This is
from Experts-Exchange, which is a site that I sometimes contribute my
minute amount of knowledge on.
http://www.experts-exchange.com/Operating_Systems/Windows_Server_2003/Q_21702669.html
I'll quote the OP for you here...
> Title: What is a Site, how is it used, and how do I configure it for a large enterprise

> This question is worth 500 Points

> What is a site?

> How is it used?
>
> How should I plan and configure this for a large enterprise?
This scares me. He/She is in charge of a large enterprise, and has no
clue what a site is. Truthfully, I really don't understand the whole
concept either. BUT, I'm just a college student, who's only experience
with Active Directory is beta testing Windows Server 2003 R2 last year.
This would be typical of someone who munged their way through their
MCSE, or didn't have the experience to back up the paper. Simply put,
some people can pass the tests (with or without the use of br@indumps)
but that doesn't mean they are qualified to do the work.
Now, I realize that this person may not be a MCSE or even a MCP. But,
it's still typical of someone who doesn't know their head from their A$$
and has a piece of paper claiming that they do.
So, lowdes and the rest of your fan-club. Tell me this. What is a
site? How is it used? And how should the poster incorporate it into
their large enterprise? If you can answer those questions, and provide
proof to back up your answers, then I'll leave you alone. If not, then
you may want to slither off under a different rock. Because you're out
of your league in this newsgroup.
Oh, someone will have to reply to gtright's post (if he cares to post
anything worth reading). He's still in my delete filter.

OT: Tuesday Telephony
Just got a phone call from one of our recieving clerks. Apparently, she just
got off the phone with one "Brian Dawn". The phone rang, she picked it up,
and this guy immediately asked her if she was near a printer. She said yes,
asked who it was, and he gave his name. No company, nothing. Just his name.
So he asked her to go read the model number and serial number off the back
of her printer. While she was writing them down so she could tell this guy,
her boss, thankfully, interrupted her, asked her what she was doing, and
stopped her. He told her that he should be transferred to the IT department.
So she went back to the phone to transfer him, and he was gone. WTF? I could
chalk it up to a wrong number, but how would he have not realized it was the
wrong number when the receptionist had to greet him and transfer him? Now,
there's not too much crazy stuff one can do with a HP serial number, but I'd
rather that kind of information stay in-house. So I never got to talk to
this guy. That would've been fun. Anyone else had anything like this happen,
or was it truly a mistake? What could he possibly have wanted with model and
serial numbers? Hopefully world domination, but I find that situation
unlikely.

Domain Problem
Hi everyone,
I'm still studing for MCSE certification and I just found a problem in my
new work I can't solve. The problem is as follows:
We have a Windows 2000 Server domain and The domain has Windows 2000
Professional desktops. Not all the clients are conected to the Domain but the
desktops conected to the domain are having problems. When they are booting,
during the "Starting network conections" message they keep starting conection
and they never let you start sesion. This not happend if the user unplug the
network cable and plug it again after the "Push ctr+alt+del to start a
session". Can you give me a hand? Thanks in advance!!! Tag: OT: mean parents Tag: 185714

MCP>MCSA>MCSE + Security exam order advice need.
Hi and thank you for any input you may be able to give.
I have taken the 270, 290 and will be taking the 291 next week. Now here is
my dilemma. I'm not sure where to go from there. From my point of view, I
think it would be beneficial to take the 299 next. That would then give me my
MCSA and is also a requirement for my MCSE. From there, I would take the 298,
followed by the 293 and then 294 for my MCSE certification. And later I could
either 227 or Comptia's Sec + for my + Security designation.
From the posts I have read, most people take them in numerical order.
Unless I'm missing something, I think my plan above would be better suited,
in that you receive your MCSA after your 4th exam, rather than at the same
time as your MCSE, if you went in numerical order.
Am I missing something here? Any commends or suggestions would be greatly
appreciated.
Thanks,
Mognar Tag: OT: mean parents Tag: 185663
