MCSA/MCSE 2000 -> 2003
Greetings everyone,
A couple of years ago I had taken and passed both 70-210, 70-215, and also
have my A+ and Network+ Certifications. This of course means that I am 1 test
(70-218) away from my MCSA in Windows 2000.
This is where the tricky part begins.
I want to convert this ultimately into an MCSE 2003 without de-valueing the
210,215, and 218 exams. This means, I don't want to take the equivalents for
the 2003 exam if I don't have to.
I could go the "upgrade track" for MCSA in 2000 to 2003, but does it "stop
there" meaning, in order to be considered an MCSE 2003, do I need to take and
pass all of the specifically required exams? Or after I upgrade from MCSA
2000 to 2003, can I continue on to the 2003 MCSE track?

am interested in going into IT by taking a course in MCSE and getting
certified but i found out MCSE will be faced out in 2008. can someone please

OT: CompTIA exams as electives for the MCSA 2000
Apologize for blasting this in all certification newsgroups, but I
cannot remember where this question originated from -- or who asked it.
But I promised to look into it and get an answer. The question was
concerning the MCSA 2000 electives and why it changed from Network+ and
A+ combo to Server+ and A+ combo. After speaking with Rob Linsky,
Product Manager of I.T. Certification for Microsoft, this is an error on
the website. The Network+ and A+ combo still counts as an elective for
the MCSA 2000 certification.

Exam options ?
I have today, passed 70-219 W2000 AD Infrastucture Admin. Over the last few
months I have passed 70-215, 70-210, 70-218, 70-216, 70-229, 70-228. This
give me MCSA 2000 and a MCDBA 2000.
I am now looking at doing a design exam (to complete the MCSE) but haven't a
clue which one to do. I want to maximise my certs so I am leaning towards
70-220 (Designing W2000 Security) because it will be useful for the
MCSA\MCSE 2000 Security accreditation. My next step (after the design exam)
however, is to upgrade the MCSA/MCSE to 2003.
Can anyone tell me if I upgrade to MCSE 2003 will a MCSE 2000 Security
accreditation be upgraded to. Also if I finish the MCSE with 70-220, then
upgrade, can I just do the one exam to make it a MCSE 2000 Security ?
I can't find this info on the MS Website.

punish those persons who love the Chinese and Indian people. You get two
big thumbs down from me Microsoft.

Every once in a while, I type strange, potentially humorous, potentially

I do this to reinforce my ego, which is oh so fragile, it requires constant

OT: I've got to Wii
I mean I just got a Wii.
Well, my son and his gf just got a Wii, but there're using my
big screen TV and mega-watt sound system, so they let me play
with it every once in a while.
I'm torn. If I wanted to do all that physical activity I
would just play real ping-pong.
I think MCSE tests, however, could benefit from this technology.
Using a Wii-mote could add a whole new aspect to simulation style
questions. I mean, sometimes you just want to bang on the server
with a hammer, or slap that luser in the back of the haed.

it's potential, why do you really need those guys, you are so much cooler

since you joined, your kids all have shotguns now, the dog pees on your
shoes daily, and of course you have better things to do, we are all sure.
Who really would want to be grouped together with these nutjobs anyway?

Starting out in IT industry, need help.
Ok, I've taken a leap from a job that I have done for 5yrs (insurance) into
the IT industry as it's something I've always had an interest in.
I am going to a company to do IT support (desktop) and a little network
admin stuff with the flexibility to specialize in either if I choose.
The help I need is in choosing what qualification might help me the most, I
was originally looking at doing MCSE certification but it seems this might
not be a good idea as it's being withdrawn. Can anyone suggest a good route
for me to go and outline a little what is involved?
