    - 70-297 :-( 70-297. To look at, it's not much. Just a series of numbers. No meaning, nothing really! 70-297, there I said it again. 70-297 <twitches slightly>. 70-29 bloody 7. This exam is driving me insane (not to mention the expense, which I can't afford). As you can guess, 70-297 eluded me again today. Is there a worldwide quota on the number of passes that M$ allocate for this exam, and if so, has it been reached? I've now added Sybex's 70-297 study guide (by Brad Price) to my ever growing list of prep materials aquired for this exam. This book covered new ground, material that was not covered (in depth) by the M$ material, and in general I thought, yeah, a good read, with good material. So, to recap, thats 2282, Self-paced training kit, Self-test, Measure-Up, Sybex 70-297, years of practical (real world) experience and no 70-297 exam pass. So the quest goes on! I'm starting to ask myself though, is it worth the effort. Which I know is negative talk, but hey, I'm coming to the conclusion that this exam is more about persistence than anything technical or design related. 70-297, 70-297, 70-297 aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, sorry just needed to get the primal scream out of my system. It seems like as you go through the scenario, jotting down key points so you don't have to go hunting back for them... My friend Rob Linsky at Microsoft emailed me to give you the 411. He wrote: The answer is sort of and no. We stripped out all the content in the exams that was rendered obsolete by SP2 but did not seed in any content specifically for SP2. Same with R2 - we took out anything that was no longer valid but did not add any R2-specific content in. We typically handle service packs and "dot" releases this way as many customers take a long time to implement and/or use the updates. Thanks Rob for the information. The only thing would be to order them from the US. But not all online stores are shipping outside USA and when they do, then I have to pay horrible shipping costs.     - MS Press self-paced training 70-290 I'm a long-time IT professional, but with relatively little experience with Windows. I'm interested in studying for MCSE. I bought a copy of the MS Press self-paced training kit for 70-290. The first exercise was to install Windows Server 2003 SP1 with the evaluation copy that was provided. One of the steps was to obtain automatic updates over the Internet. When I did this, it installed SP2. When I proceeded to the configuration process, the screens looked considerably different than shown in the book. I tried to work my way through it anyway but was quite unsure if I was doing it right. In frustration, I returned the training kit to the seller. But I'm wondering if I'm missing something simple. I there an SP2 version availablr of this course? Or, can I bypass installing SP2 but still get other needed updates? I would really appreciate any advice on this.
