Windows 2003 certification upgrade training guide
I have started reading this guide and noticed that one of the questions is
completely wrong: This has come from page 1-47 with answers on page 1-56
(why not physical page numbers??)
2. Which of the following is not a reason for defining sites in Active
Directory?
a. To control replication traffic
b. To organize user accounts
c. To make authentication more efficient
d. To support a larger number of directory objects
Answer = A, C
Now A and C are obviously reasons for defining sites so a black mark there.
Has anyone else found any major howlers?
Other than that an excellent bok! Tag: pxe card Tag: 108006
Subnets
Hi
My question is the following:
If I segment a network and create subnets, do I have to install servers on each side?
I actually have servers in one side, of course

70-296 Ain't That Bad
Passed with 899 tonight .... My secrets:
1. I setup three virtal machines with Virtual PC 2004.
--- One Ent
--- One Std
--- One web
2. On the Ent I had DNS, Certs, SUS, GP, PKI, DHCP WINS
ETC. Everything under the sun. Everything u ass pakkager.
3. STD had stub zones, 2ndary zones and fed off of ENT and
secondary partner on everything to ENT. Logging cranked up
full.
4. WEB server had all IIS crapolas running.
And I read the 2003 help files, front to back. And I read
technet, front to back, and I played back to front by
Brian Mcknight and cried my poor little head off because
my gf dumped me again for a help desk dude with a meat
stick more precious and tastier than mine (or so she said).
Anyone that does not use MS Virtual PC to setup labs and
is still trying to procure hardware to make a test lab at
home is a JAKA$$. You need to be shot and have blood
poured down your throat from dead bluegills.
Learn the fukkeng product, understand it. Server 2003 is
an amazing system, get ms virtual pc now you bastard fuc.
And pass the test without having to grip your balls and
sing kenny-g tunes before peeing.

Some thoughts for Paisleyskye & the MCNGP
I thought I was not going to post here again....... not so......... all of
the below is in my honest opinion and is connected with various threads here
and at icertify.net
Paisleyskye some thoughts for you
1 Your site does sell books..... you have a book store, therefore you sell
books..... Your site has adverts/sponsors so its commercial (even if it only
pays the site costs)..... nuff said
2 Some of the very reason you say you closed "the thread" on your site you
did yourself in the last post.
3 Yes your site isn't a democracy, so you can have the final say there and
only there...... sorry lost the point of it as there was so much waffle in
that last post.....
4 you say 12 pages of crap..... a lot of which was your own crap on your own
site.... good advert!!!!!
5 You say we (the posters here) should help people who can get to the MS
site/news group, but not find the info they are looking for, let me
see...... search for "MCSE" at www.microsoft.com and we get a page of links
to info about the cert, sorry these people don't need help getting a cert
they need to think for themselves and pull there fingers out of there bums
and type MCSE in a search field.
MCNGP some thoughts for you
1 Although I agree with the principle of your group calling someone who
doesn't know any better an "ASS####ER" doesn't do your cause justice,
educate the fool and the fool may learn to educate others. Being rude makes
you look like troll's, which again isn't doing you any justice [do you care,
probably not]
2 The humour curls me up..... for example the responses to "Resume Concepts"
by JaR, Jytc and Consultant.
3 I don't want to get the MCNGP lapel pin so kindly don't try [have I just
dropped myself in it :-[]

OT Wednesday fun
A shepherd was herding his flock in a remote pasture when suddenly a
brand-new BMW advanced out of a dust cloud towards him. The driver, a young
man in a Brioni suit, Gucci shoes, Ray Ban sunglasses and YSL tie, leans out
the window and asks the s! hepherd: If I tell you exactly how many sheep you
have in your flock, will you give me one?" The shepherd looks at the man,
obviously a yuppie, then looks at his peacefully grazing flock and calmly
answers: "Sure. Why not?" The yuppie parks his car, whips out his Dell
notebook computer, attaches it to his AT&T cell phone, surfs to a NASA page
on the internet, where he calls up a GPS satellite navigation system to get
an exact fix on his location, which he then feeds to another NASA satellite
that scans the area in an ultra-high-resolution photo. Then the young man
opens the digital photo in Adobe Photoshop and exports it to an image
processing facility in Hamburg, Germany. Within seconds, he receives an
email on his Palm Pilot that the image has been processed and the data
stored. He then accesses a MS-SQL database through an ODBC connected Excel
spreadsheet with hundreds of complex formulas. He uploads all of this data
via an email on his Blackberry and, after a few minutes, receives a
response. Finally, he prints out a full-color,150-page report on his
hi-tech, miniaturized HP LaserJet printer and finally turns to the shepherd
and says: You have exactly 1586 sheep." That's right. Well, I guess you can
take one of my sheep" says the shepherd. He watches the young man select one
of the animals and looks on amused as the young man stuffs it into the trunk
of his car. Then the shepherd says to the young man: "Hey, if I can tell you
exactly what your business is, will you give me back my sheep? The young man
thinks about it for a second and then says, "Okay, why not?" "You're a
consultant." says the shepherd. "Wow! That's correct," says the yuppie, "but
how did you guess that?" "No guessing required." answered the shepherd. "You
showed up here even though nobody called you! ; you want to get paid for an
answer I already knew, to a question I never asked, and you don't know
anything about my business. Now give me back my DOG. "

Study Group in Ohio
Hopefully, most of us have gotten the hang of writing "/04" on checks and
the like. So we're ready to tackle our next challenge, which would
be.certification (nope, not the mastering "ballroom dancing", which was also
on the list)!
The next Certification study group will be this coming Monday, 12 January,
from 6-8pm. We'll be meeting at Tri-C's UTC, in room 222a (we'll keep an
eye out for Pete Dixon). We meet each month on the 2nd Monday, so the next
one after this will 9 February.
There's no charge, or sales pitch or anything. Past meetings have had as
few as two people, so it's a chance for you to pick the brain of an MCT/MCSE
for a couple of hours (ok, it's my brain, so bring tweezers and a magnifying
glass).
Whether you're working on your MCSA, MCSE, MCDBA, MCSD, A+, Network+, CCNA,
CNE.<phew>.I have some study materials for you to use. Everything from
training to sample tests.
I also have some posters from Microsoft that do a pretty good job of
outlaying the difference certification paths and requirements. Free while
supplies last!
I do ask that people who plan to attend let me know what they're planning on
studying so I can fake preparing.
The meeting is sponsored by the Greater Cleveland PC Users Group
(www.gcpcug.org). I happen to President of that group as well, proving that
I have no %!$#^$ life.

Hi,

become a MCSE?
Thanks,

Sorry. html newsreader needs fixing - Microsoft???
Recently, I have noticed others slamming posters for not
using carriage return. I was wondering what the hell they
were on about; every post looked fine to me.
I use the Web version of reading these newsgroups so I can
follow threads while I am at various work places. Much
easier for me.
Usually, I go to www.microsoft.com/traincert. Press
Community link on the left. Follow the link to your fave
Web Based client. Every post looks well formatted.
Now go to the old reader:
http://communities.microsoft.com/newsgroups/default.asp?
ICP=certification&sLCID=us&NewsGroup=microsoft.public.cert.
exam.mcse&iPageNumber=1
Sorry about the wrapping. (Should have used tinyurl)
If you post from here, it is a text page that is generally
more readable.
So Microsoft - Any chance you can fix this???

have a 100+ inch monitor set to 65536*768 resolution to
read my posts. I didn't realise what was going on.

That is faulty logic. Entry level positions can demand an MCSE because there
are so many MCSE's. That doesn't make the job an entry level position FOR
the MCSEs. It means the market is saturated, which is also why not all MCSEs
are employed.

Yes, this guy is for real...
Hey all. Thanks for visiting my site and commenting on my certificatio
list. Its actually pretty funny that you visited my site and notice
that yes, I have a ton of certifications, but thats because I was
trainer and MADE sure I was certified in the products I taught on, onl
fair right? Why tell a student how they can train to be a Certifie
'whatever' when the trainer is not certified on anything. Damn, I hav
seen this thousands of times. Also, if you havent noticed, I spend 50
of my free time writing certification study guides for companies lik
Que, etc. Ummmm, I guess it would also make sense for me to have thos
certs too, no? Would you buy a book on an exam when the writer neve
even took it? Ok peeps, do some intelligent thinking here. Ok next,
am actually an executive in a very large company so I manage a larg
group of people... all of which I work with to get certified o
products we run.
I guess if you do the math from what I just said, you would realize
work around the clock on this crap so it would probably make sense tha
after 7 years of taking exams... I would have accumulated this much
Also, I listed out all the certs I got, in no particular order so tha
when I consult for jobs, some people know what an MCP or CNA is, bu
not a CNE.
Hey peeps, think outside the box ok?
Also, for the person who was nice enough to call me a loser because
havent taken the CCIE (and you are only an MCSA), well damn dude, yo
must not really know what that entails (if you were actually serious)
I have purchased and built a home lab for the Cisco Security CCIE an
have been working on it now 3 months. I have 9 friends who know 130
more about Cisco than I do and all have failed the lab at least once
some twice, 2 passed, all the rest keep trying. The exam just change
formats (AGAIN) and a ton of new crap was added, so more equipmen
needs to be purchased. This is why it takes sometimes up to 4 years t
get your CCIE, I have 3.5 more to go so dont rush me there tough guy.

Recommended Study Guides for actually learning meaterial and taking the exames
I'm trying to spend my money wisely and get a consenses on the most helpful study guides out there. Neither do I want to be the "paper mcse" but learn and keep what I learn. SBS 2003 - Exam 70-282
Has anyone had any experience with the official version of this exam?
I saw from Microsoft that it was available as of mid-December, but I
haven't seen any reviews or study guide information about it. Has
anyone taken this or preparing to take it? Any ideas on when there
will be books or study guides available for it?

How much study time for MCSE
Hi all, have just ordered the self paced books for the core elements of the
2003 Server MCSE and wondered how much study time you would recommend before
sitting the first exam.
I have no experience of 2003 Server but am fairly competent in a pure
Windows 2000 Server/Client environment, albeit in a small business scenario.
Also have about 4 years experience dealing with end user situations using
all OS's from 95 up to XP pro.
I have already received the 180 day trial versions and have a machine ready
for practical experience.
Any help greatly appreciated - but please no comments such as the one on
Amazon.com - 'I read the 4000 pages on a Friday afternoon and passed the
exams that evening'.
Cheers, Gary. Tag: pxe card Tag: 107480

Value of MCSE without a degree?
What is the value, if any, of having an MCSE without

Domain Local vs Global Groups
Can someone explain this confusion for me? I created a global group today
to assign permissions to a resource in a different domain but it wouldn;t
work, I had to use a Domain Local group for that.
Global to me means a far reaching group with more "coverage" than a Domain
Local (local to the domain) so I assumed that to permission objects outside
a domain to use Globals.
Any ideas why the naming sounds arse about face? Tag: pxe card Tag: 107328
MCSE or Bust
I need some serious advise here since I've been following this newsgroup for
about 8 months. My goal is NOT to become a paper MCSE, rather to really
learn the material and apply it towards certs and hopefully to real life
situations. As a administrator of a member server, I do not have domain
admin priveleges, which leaves me with some good experience with basic
permissions and network concepts. Wish I had access to the domains DC, but
I'm not a domain admin or have those rights.
For a year now, I've completed the class work and labs for 270, 215, 216,
217, 220, 218 towards a MCSE at a respectable IT college which has given me
good/basic foundational knowledge to sit the certs. I have just completely
the 216 and 220 classes last month which leaves me with exchange to take
this month. My goal has always been to learn so I could apply the material
and that is why I have put off the cert scene in hopes I would understand
this newly acquired knowledge so I could better apply it to real life rather
than memorizing tests, i.e. testkings! Since the 216 and 220 classes, I
feel very comfortable and ready to tackle the certs. My question to all of
you pro's is which one to start with. I've completed the 216 and 220 a few
weeks ago and have been preping for the 216, but my close MCSE friend says
to not sit the 216 for your first MCSE exam.
I have Cram Master, Boson, Cert Times, Transcenders test simulators along
with all the study guides and a library of CBT's, and the Microsoft library.
All of these resources are invaluable which give me different perspectives
and scenarios to apply and learn from.
Where do I go from here...which exam first??? Thanks guys for your
patience
