I have win 2003 server running on my server and about 25 clients running 2k and xp pro. I have no issues with 2k but i am experiencing very slow swithching between users on the xp machines. I also find that the connection the my mapped drives after not using them is very slow...and i mean slow to connect 30 sec. or more

Any idea's as to why this is happening?

Might be a WINS issue. It's probably taking as long as it does because the client is first checking the local name cache, than DNS, than WINS and than, finaly, gets the address by broadcast! So, verify your WINS configuration before you try anything else...

Might need to turn off INDEXing on your XP systems.

This is a know issue between a W2K server and XP. It will be repaired in SP2 or you can call MS and get the fix. Not sure if they will charge for the fix. We opted to tell our customers the truth about this problem
