I see that it is possible to become an MCSE: Security. Now what happens if I
already am MCSE (I am) and would like to focus on Security? What exams do i
need to do?
Is this exam available for the 2003 track?

In order to determine what additional tests you need to pass, compare what
you've passed VS what the tests are required at:
http://www.microsoft.com/traincert/mcp/mcsesecurity/windows2000.asp. The
requirements for the MCSE: Security on windows 2003 are not finalized yet by
Microsoft and thus have not been announced.

For MCSE on 2000, You pretty much need 2 extra exams:

70-214 Security in a Win2K Network

70-227 The ISA Server one
OR
CompTIA SY0-101 Security+

Maybe, you will also need a third exam if you didn't do 70-
220 design exam as an elective.

I base this on the realisation that every MCSE will have
already completed the other exams required:

Core 70-210 or 70-270
Require networking exams 215,216,217 (they are part of
MCSE core)

I did 210,215,218, then 216 to get MCSA on 2000.

Then 217, 219, 220 for MCSE.

Now I intend to finish 214 solely with the MS Press book
which I have been reliably informed is the best resource
for this exam.

Then the ISA exam and - voila - it becomes MCSE:Security

In about 6 months time, I intend to do 70-292 for MCSA on
2003 then 70-296 for MCSE on 2003. According to my best
guess, this will likely meet the requirements for the yet
to be announced MCSE:Security on Windows 2003. Because I
don't know for sure, I am waiting about 6 months....

I have it on good authority that there will likely be a
specialised Exchange / Messaging-Systems Administrator
credential. It will likely have the 210/270,215 and 216,
217 OR 218 exams at its core and include 224 and 225
Exchange 2000 exams. In fact, I first heard this proposed
about 2 years ago at a Microsoft Technical Readiness event.

Marko

Hi,
I did do one of the design exams - 70-219 - which is not a security design,
so do I still have to do all 3 or not? I do not mind doing all three - just
takes a bit longer!
Thanks
Terry

You need the 4 core exams
The 220 design exam
214 Security exam
and either the ISA exam or the Security+ exam.

Total - 7 exams
