Hi, I come from an NT4 background with experience in most MS clients OSâ??s. I
have little AD experience and have noticed on many 70-270 test exams a lot of
AD and server administrative questions. I thought the most practical way
about getting an MCSE would be to start with the client OS but it seems I
need to first know about the server-side of things. Is this why MS list the
exams for MCSE in the order they do? Should I be studying the 70-290 then 291
etc first before 270??????

Hi some_guy,

If your background is NT4 and is clueless about AD, perhaps you might want
to get to know Win Server 2003 first.

Perhaps you might want to walk through the 4 network exams books
(http://www.microsoft.com/mspress/books/6469.asp) or the admin's book
(http://www.microsoft.com/mspress/books/5176.asp).

Once you get the overview of how similar and different Win Server 2003 is
compare to NT4, you will be more prepare to start your journey in becoming a
MCSE on Win Server 2003.

Hope this helps.

Bobby

Just so you know, dont consider either the XP exam or the Windows 2000
Workstation as an operating system test.

I took and passed the XP test on the first try and my thoughts on it are,
you better know XP from the adminstrators perspective. You can be an expert
XP user and blow that exam terribly...

Know your security... seems Microsoft is on this kick about securing their
products so they have to beat that horse to death for a couple years

do in this order...
70-290
70-291
70-299
70-270

that gets you to mcsa...

then do 70-293 its a combination of (291 & 299)
then do 70-294 its a combination of (291 & 299) also...

then study like hell and do either 297 or 298 for your mcse...
