MCSE on NT4.0
I passed the core requirements for this qualification and
also one elective exam but for whatever reason I didn't
take the last elective to gain the MCSE 4.0 qualification.
Can I still gain the MCSE on NT 4.0 if I pass an elective
exam that is still current e.g. SMS 2.0.

question in one of other forums also. But i m sorry i m still not ver

Advice sought
I've been follwing this group for a couple of weeks now, and I figure that I
might as well start asking questions.
First, a bit of background:
I'm an American who moved to Germany 1.5 years ago for family reasons. In my
mid 30s (1998), I decided to make a career change, and returned to college
for my CS degree. The same year, I got a job doing support for a small
software company. In my time there (> 3 years), I was able to move up into
programming bugfixes and enhancements. I got laid off at the start of my
last year in college, and shortly after graduation moved here.
Due to the crappy economy, I've only been able to get a part-time job doing
embedded programming (trying to learn it on the fly), plus doing some
webdesign and this and that. I feel that I have the most aptitude in the
area of databases, and if this part-time gig doesn't go full-time soon, I'm
going to look for something new.
Now for the advice:
Would it be worth it for someone in my position to pursue certification
(pursue meaning to go about it the RIGHT way...no dumps/cheats, etc.)? I'll
be doing it on my own, with books and a home lab.
Do European (esp. German companies) place as much emphasis on certs as
American companies seem to do? Also, keeping in mind my affinity for DBs,
would you recommend going MCSE --> MSDBA, vice versa, or some other track?
Thanks for any advice you can offer.

[x-posted] MS Press Courseware for 70-293... Any MCSE 2000s going the long way to MCSE 2003 ?
I've just studied the first three chapters about 200 pages out of 1000
of:
"MCSE Self-Paced Training Kit (Exam 70-293): Planning and Maintaining
a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure / Craig Zacker
with Microsoft Corporation. ISBN 0-7356-1893-3"
The level of detail here is similar to the depth that was on good ole
70-058 7 or 8 years ago only up to date with newer technologies but
the same level of detail. Anyone else think that too ?
I hear from other exam takers and read at mcpmag.com that you need to
read the deployment guide too in order to make sure that you're good
and ready for the exam. What I just read in the MSPress 293 book and
"Deploying Network Services" could have been written by the same
person. (maybe it *was*)
[Question:]
Does anyone else know which areas of the deployment guide to focus on?
I'm getting the feeling that not many MCSE2000's are taking the "hard
route" to their 2003 certs but its important to me that I know *all*
this stuff rather than just the delta so I'm in the lab for the next
couple of months til I'm ready to go sit the exams :o(
[Question:]
I see on the CDs and references in the materials to some PDFs that
they just happen to have added to the CD (cant be to just fill space).
..\Encyclopedia
and
..\Sample_Chapters
The contents seem to contain more detail than the MSPress book. Has
anyone been here and done this and know just how much of the "extra
credit" material you *really* need to read and digest ?
[Question About Transcender... <cue flame war>]
I'm wondering how the 293 / 294 trannies compare in difficulty to the
exam or even if they're out yet given that Selftest just bought
them...?
Anyone have any views ?

SclgNtfy errors
If youre installing a DC which will have only a public interface, unbiding
the ms network client & file & printer sharing services from that nic will
cause errors & prevent you from accessing things like the GPO's, you'll also
get errors listed in the event log usually from the SclgNtfy service with
the event id 1002.
To get around this problem install the Loopback nic (listed in add/remove
hardware>Network Adapters>Microsoft>Microsoft Loopback Adapter), & bind the
ms net client & f&p sharing to it, place it on the top of the connections
list in Adapters & bindings. you dont need to assign it any ip info to this
nic as the apa assigned address is sufficient to make everything work. Tag: SMS 2.0 Training kit Tag: 111578

70-290 Exam Duration?
Anyone know how long this exam is supposed to be?
I sat it today, 45 questions, and missed by 5 marks, getting 695 and needing
700. I sat it at Prometric and expected 2.5 hours but only got 1.5 hours.
I'm trying to determine if I was diddled out of an hour or if Prometric have
it wrong in their confirmation email.
Vue told me on the phone it was 145 Minutes...which is pretty close to 150.
Do you actually get that long or once again only 90? Anyone sat with them?

MCSE/MCDBA
Two questions, and if they've been addressed before, my
apologies.
It's my understanding that if I write 70-290 (managing
2003 server) and 70-293 (maintain network infrastructure)
for MCSE 2003, I can use it toward MCDBA, no? If I write
70-228 (sql 2000 admin) as an elective for MCSE 2003, can
I use it toward MCDBA?
Second, is there a logical way of getting MCSE i.e. which
exams to take first, or does it matter. Thanks Tag: SMS 2.0 Training kit Tag: 111550
OT: Spam tactics
Don't you all just love this new crap the spammers are pulling? They
include a "paragraph" full of random words at the end of their email, to
try and evade spam filters. They truly are the most random conglomeration
of words I've ever seen. Until today. The following, while still random,
actually has some verbs where verbs should be and some nouns where nouns
should be. Amazing how the spammers took an English class.

Ambilogic Boot Camp
Hi all,
I registered to attend an MCSE/MCSA Boot Camp with a company named Ambilogic
in North Conway, NH. I paid via check in December for the session which was
scheduled to begin March 1st. In January, I accepted a new position which no
longer requires that I acquire these certifications. I called and emailed
Ambilogic on January 26th to notify them of my need to cancel, and request
the almost full refund which they promised if notice of cancellation was
over 30 days from the start of the session (which this was).
To make a long story short, this company has not responded at all. I leave
messages which are not returned, and emails which are not answered. It's now
been 10 days, and I'm starting to get a very bad feeling.
Has anyone else had any experience with this company that they can relate?
Or, can anyone suggest how I should proceed from here?
Thanks...Mark Tag: SMS 2.0 Training kit Tag: 111485

Setting userid and password when calling remote MTS component
Hi folks.
Your feedback would be greatly appreciated.
I'm currently sitting with an architectural/security problem on one o
my client's applications.
I have an MTS component on a Windows NT server. I exported thi
component's package and installed the stub on the Windows 2000 clien
workstation. I have a VB 6.0 app that instantiates this component o
the client.
Problem: The client and workstation are in different domains and ther
is not a two way trust between the two domains. However, I'm told tha
if I could programmatically specify a valid userid and password for th
server when instantiating this component it'll work.
I'm still busy searching for more info on the net, but all I found s
far is using the SecurityProperty of the object context. This onl
returns values for who created or instantiated the component.
How do I programmatically specify the userid and password to use t
connect to the server and instantiate the component

turn $12 into $12,000
PEEP THIS SHIT YALL MY FRIEND GOT $500 LAST WEEK TRYING THIS SHIT:
make extra cash
GREAT WAY TO BECOME RICH...INSTANT THOUSANDS This is no scam, read
it!!!!!!
------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------- HOW TO TURN $12 INTO $12,000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS
REALLY CAN MAKE YOU EASY MONEY!! IT WORKS !!! BUT YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW IT
TO THE LETTER FOR IT TO WORK!!!! : A little while back, I was browsing
through newsgroup, just like you are now and came across an article
similar to this that said you could make thousands dollars within weeks
with only an initial investment of $12.00! So I thought, "Yeah, right,
this must be a scam", but like most of us, I was curious, so I kept
reading. : Anyway, it said that you send $2.00 to each of the 6 names
and address stated in the article. You then place your own name and
address in the bottom of the list at #6, and post the article in at
least 200 newsgroup. (There are thousands) No catch, that was it. So
after thinking it over, and talking to few people first, I thought about
trying it. I figured what have I got to lose except 6 stamps and $12.00,
right? Like most of us I was a little skeptical and a little worried
about the legal aspects of it : All, So I checked it out with the U.S.
Post Office (1-800-725-2161) and they confirmed that it is indeed legal!
Then I invested the measly $12.00. Well GUESS WHAT!!?. Within 7 days, I
started getting money in the mail! I was shocked! I figured it would end
soon, but the money just kept coming in. In my first week, I made about
$25.00. By the end second week I had made a total over $1,000.00! In the
third week I had over $10,000.00 and it's still growing. This is now my
fourth week and I have made a total of just over $42,000.00 and it's
still coming in rapidly. Its : Certainly worth $12.00, and 6 stamps, I
have spent more than that on the lottery!! : Let me tell you how this
works and most importantly, why it works?.also, make sure you print a
copy of this article NOW, so you can get the information off of it as
you need it. STEP 1: Get 6 separate pieces of paper and write the
following on each piece of paper "PLEASE PUT ME ON YOUR MAILING LIST."
Now get 2 US $1.00 bills and place TWO inside EACH of the 6 pieces of
paper so the bills will not be seen through the envelope to prevent
thievery. Next, place one paper in each stating the above phrase, your
name and address, and 2 $1.00 bills. What you are doing is creating a
service by this. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY LEGAL! Mail the 6 envelopes to the
following addresses:

STEP 2: Now take the #1 name off the list that you see above, move the
other names up (6 becomes 5, 5 becomes 4, etc?.) and add YOUR Name as
number 6 on the list. STEP 3: Change anything you need to, but try to
keep this article as close to original as possible. Now, post your
amended article to at least 200 newsgroups, message board. (I think
there are close to 24,000 groups) All you need is 200, but remember, the
more you post, the more money you make!---- DIRECTIONS----HOW TO POST TO
NEWSGROUPS, MESSAGE BOARD----------Step 1) You do not need to re-type
this entire letter to do your own posting. Simply put your cursor at the
beginning of this letter and drag your : Cursor to the bottom of this
document, and select 'copy' from the edit menu. This will copy the
entire letter into the computer memory. Step 2) Open a blank 'notepad'
file and place your cursor at the top of the blank page. From the
'edit' menu select 'paste'. This will paste a copy of the letter into
notepad so that you can add your name to the list. Step 3) save your new
notepad file as a .txt file. If you want to do your postings in
different sittings, you'll always have this file to go back to. : Step
4) Use Netscape or Internet explorer and try searching for various
newsgroups (on-line forums, message boards, chat sites, discussions.)
Just example you log on any search engine like yahoo. com, google.
com, altavista. com, excite. com then you search with this subject ?
millionaire message board? or ?money making message board? or ?
employment message board? or ?money making discussions? or ?money making
forum? or ?business message board? etc. You will find thousand &
thousand message board. Click one by one then you will find the option
post a new message. : Step 5) Visit these message boards and post this
article as a new message by highlighting the text of this letter and
selecting paste from the edit menu. Fill in the Subject, this will be
the header that everyone sees as they scroll through the list of
postings in a particular group, click the post message button. You're
done with your first one!. : Congratulations? THAT'S IT! All you have to
do is jump to different newsgroups and post away, after you get the hang
of it, and it will take about 30 seconds for each newsgroup! **
REMEMBER, THE MORE NEWSGROUPS OR MESSAGE BOARD YOU POST IN, THE MORE
MONEY YOU EILL MAKE!! BUT YOU HAVE TO POST A MINIMUM OF 200** That's it!
You will begin receiving money from around the world within days! You
may eventually can rent a P.O. Box due to the large amount of mail you
will receive. If you wish to stay anonymous, you can invent a name to
use, as long as the postman will deliver it. **JUST MAKE SURE ALL THE
ADDRESSES ARE CORRECT. ** : Now the WHY part: Out of 200 postings, say I
receive only 5 replies (a very low example). So then I Made $5.00 with
my name at #6 on the letter. Now, each of the 5 persons who just sent me
$1.00 make the MINIMUM 200 postings, each with my name at #5 and only 5
persons respond to each of the original 5, that is another $25.00 for
me, now those 25 each make 200 MINIMUM posts with my name at #4 and only
5 replies each, I will bring in an additional :$125.00! Now, those 125
persons turn around and post the MINIMUM 200 with my name at #3 and only
receive 5 replies each, I will make an additional $625.00! OK, now here
is the fun part, each of those 625 persons post a MINIMUM 200 letters
with my name at #2 and they only receive 5 replies, that just made me
$3,125.00!!! Those 3,125 persons will all deliver this message to 200
newsgroups with my name at #1 and if still 5 persons per 200 newsgroups
react I will receive $15,625.00! With an original investment of only
$12.00! AMAZING! When your name is no longer on the list, you just take
latest posting in the newsgroups, and send out another $12.00 to names
on the list, putting your name at number 6 again. And start posting
again. The thing to remember is, do you realize that thousands of people
all over the world are joining the internet and reading these articles
everyday, JUST LIKE YOU are now!! So can you afford $12.. and see if it
really works?? I think so? People have said, 'what if the plan is played
out and no one sends you: the money? So what are the chances of that
happening when there are tons of new honest users and new honest people
who are joining the internet and newsgroups everyday and are willing to
give it a try? Estimates are at 20,000 to 50,000 new users, every day,
with thousands of those joining the actual Internet.
AND YES YOU HAVE TO SEND THE MONEY FOR THIS TO WORK!!!dont try not to,IT

Considering the recent increase in usage of dumps for MCP certifications,
Microsoft has been secretly doing a beta run of their new lie detector.
There's an AI app which integrates with the current testing modules and has
been collecting data on answering patterns... Depending on the speed and
answers, you are asked at the end of exams whether you used any dumps. If it
detects that you are lying... you get a static dischage of 30000 volts from
a circuit attached to the mouse.
And also that they monitor all the email address with the ip address and
data from isps and if the id matches your registration data. you are asked
to £%& off....
