I signed up my home for BellSouth DSL today via the intarweb.

During the process I had some concerns about several of the options, and
noticed there was an option for a "live, on-line chat with a technical
specialist!" So... I clicked it.

One of my questions, since it did not appear anywhere on the web pages was:

"Will I have access to USENET with this service?"

His reply:

"Yes, you can have up to eight e-mail accounts. <long diatribe about e-mail
accounts>"

So, I state:

"I'm talking about NNTP."

<very long pause>

"Yes."

Aint it a biotch when you have to wait for tech support to call tech
support.

"Expected wait time for general knowledge sales questions is currently 4
days, 3 hours, 19 minutes; please continue to hold."

At least it didn't come back to you insisting you were talking about
email. Sounds like it's a little more aware than some voids we get to
talk to.

I think the only reason he didn't come back with that is that before the
conversation even started, I let him know I was an IT pro. Wanted to get
him nervous right off the start. I should've told him I was an MCNGP, that
would've scared the boots right off him.

Also, right off the bat, he told me his name was "Bill" but I suspect his
real name was probably hard to pronounce.
