I want to setup a VPN server on my home network? My
question is: I have an Access point router that serves as
my DHCP server and Gateway and Firewall? Do I need to have
a DHCP server running in my network or can my router give
out an IP address for the in coming VPN request? Or can
some one give me best practices for a home VPN setup.

Thanks

where is the vpn terminating?
on the router or is it being port forwarded to an operating system e.g. XP
or to server OS 2k3?
on OS' you can set up an address pool for incoming vpn's
