I have two offices that require to be hooked into each other for our upcoming
merger. Not only for data, but for voice also. I have a T1 at each
location. I am assuming this is needed to accomplish the Point to Point
through ATT. My question is: Do i need to have the same equipment on each
side? Or as long it is layer 3 and offers QoS, am I good?

That is off topic for this ng. Do you have a question about Windows
certification? Or the voices in OTHMAN's head?

First, it was a joke. Nothing really appears to be off topic for this
newsgroup.

My job is also off topic for this newsgroup. I support
PointofSale/Business Management software built on MS SQL Server
currently, so layer 3 switching would also be off topic for my job. I
love my job and you can't have it.

As for the MCSE exams, there are no objectives, that I am aware of, that
deal with layer 3 switching. Once again, this is a Microsoft Windows
networking exam newsgroup dealing with technologies that Windows has.

Now, you may find someone here who has skills and knowledge other than
those this newgroup is designed for but you are more likely to find what
you need in a newsgroup or forum created to deal with network hardware.

Ideally, you would like to have the same equiment at both ends. This will
cut down the configuration time since you can just turn on the mirroring
option on one end; save that configuration to a file; and then load it on the
router at the other end. Other than that, it wouldn't matter if you are
using equipment from different vendors as long as their spec. meet your
requirements.
