Speaking of which, is anyone else concerned that we don't
seem very good at spotting these things until they're like
3 days from impact?

Remember that near miss a few years ago, they didn't see it
until it had already passed us. Way to go guys.

Even if we had lots of lead time, how do you move a 1/2 mile
round ball of iron traveling 50,000 mph? We don't have the
technology.

I think the best offense is a good defense - remember the old
cold war bomb shelters? Stock up with lots of food and ammo,
learn how to live off the land - and don't tell your neighbors
you have a shelter. (Sounds cruel, but I saw this Twilight Zone
episode once...).

Of course, MCNGPs will be allowed in my shelter - someone needs
to rebuild a world dictatorship, um I mean government when the
sun comes back out.

Oh yeah, we'll need lots of women, so bring some for yourself
and a few extra for your buddies.

think about it for a second. look at the riots sports fans cause when their
team (s) win, look at the inner-city thugs who riot when a known gang member
gets shot and killed by cops while he is "rushin" them and the cop gets off.
think about that, now imagine this, scientist say that in 2.5 months a
meteor the size of new york will hit 50 miles off the coast of california,
wiping out the west coast and ultimately wiping out all living organisms on
this planet. what do you think would happen?

They actually rain into the problem when they reached the Pacific Northwest

to get above the butt swell so they could chop the tree down. Basically,
you cut a notch in the tree and insert a straight board. Then you climb up
