    - How Many Are Failing 290? Dang! I just tried the 290 exam again and failed it even more than I did the first time two weeks ago. After taking some 17 exams over the last six years this is the second exam number I have failed, and this one twice. It is just like I have not studied, ( I think I sound like someone else that posted below.) I have reasonable experience with Win 2K3, I used Exam Cram2, Transcender and this test still blows.     - Passed 70-215 Yay! Finally took my 2nd exam, 70-215 and passed with a score of 895, which wasn't as good as my 70-210 but still not bad. Although I'm not to sure what the max score is though, anyone know? Not to happy about the test centre though, the PC next to me had a faling hard disk, and throughout the 3hr exam all I could hear was 'clunk' 'grind' 'clunk' very annoying and distracting. One question I was a bit unsure on was along the lines of : You have a server with a share called accounts you give the following permissions Share: everyone - full control NTFS: finance dept - full control The share has confidential data.     - security GPO I have tried to allow my domain users to debug with Visual Studio by linking a GPO to an OU that allows Debuggers or Debug Users to debug programs. All that users that need to do this are members of the domain Debuggers security group and the GPO is linked to an OU that has all the domain workstations in it. However, none of the users are able to debug unless I put the domain Debuggers group in each workstations local debuggers group.     - Which exam first? Hi, I come from an NT4 background with experience in most MS clients OSâ??s. I have little AD experience and have noticed on many 70-270 test exams a lot of AD and server administrative questions. I thought the most practical way about getting an MCSE would be to start with the client OS but it seems I need to first know about the server-side of things.     - [OT] Looking for new job: need advice I'm about to complete my last exam before I become a MCSE on Windows Server 2003. Currently, I'm in a PC Tech type of job. I won't bore you with details, but lets say I think things are headed in the wrong direction at my current job and I'm a bit bored in this position. I would like to post my resume out there with the keyword MCSE in it (bound to get a couple bites I assume), but I'm afraid my current employer might find out by doing a resume search. Is there a way of discreetly posting your resume while you continue to work for an employer or no? I also wonder how people get these administrator type of jobs. I've tried the contracting route a few years ago and found out that these types (Volt, Robert Half, Teksystems, etc) constantly lie through their teeth and throw you crap work. This was before 9/11! I can only imagine what they are like now. I have a 4 year degree in a Computer Science and as noted above, soon to be MCSE, along with current A+ and Security+ certifications.     - Which service would you allow? Please pardon a question that is off the Microsoft topic, but still something we, as systems engineers, deal with. Which remote demonstration service(s) would you allow people on your network to use? Our experience is that many large companies block access to GotoMyPC. We cannot demonstrate software to them over it. GotoMyPC, for those who don't know, creates an outbound connection on both client & server side, because both are really clients of a server on the 'net. It will go right through a default firewall (allow everything out, block everything inbound), but many companies are blocking that outbound port. So what services wouldn't they block? VNC? PCAnyWhere? WebEx? What about having the person on the other end create a VPN to our VPN server (temporary password), then using NetMeeting? Will most net admins block outbound VPN's?     - Force authentication to a specific DC In an AD environment with multiple sites, all DC's are 2003, and multiple DC's at each site, how can I force authentication to a specific domain controller? The problem is, that our "sites" are comprised of several different subnets for several different physical locations, so when I logon, I am authenticating on a DC over 30 miles away when i have a valid dc not 10 feet from my desk. Is there a registry value I can modify to fix this? Would be an easy matter to deploy a script or policy to make these changes on a widespread basis if so.     - 70-290 Exam and Training Materials I just got done failing the 70-290 exam. I've been studying using primarily the Windows Server 2003 Environment Training Kit, published by Microsoft. I went through the entire book, did all the practice questions - both in the book and on the CD, as well as some other practice exams. Funny thing... the practice questions all had something to do with the study material and exam objectives. A large number of the questions on the actual exam didn't. I thought I was supposed to learn about physical and logical devices; users, computers and groups; access to resources; managing a server; and disaster recovery. But apparently, I forgot to study up on Visual Basic. And was my test computer screwed, or do all the Microsoft exams have 1/2" high screen fonts?     - OT: Infor for a Multi-Dim App Howdy, I am looking for an explorer style application that might allow me to view files from different ways. For Example, I have the following file structure. C:\User1\Acct\Books.xls C:\User1\Acct\Cats.xls C:\User1\Purch\File1.doc C:\User2\Acct\Books22.xls C:\User2\Acct\Cats55.xls I know I can go through the file structure and look at the file for each user in the Acct folder. What I also want is to be able to attach files to a virtual folder so I can simply type c:\Acct (or something similar) and see all 4 accounting files.
