I passed 70-290 today. I will now pause whilst you all offer up the
necessary oblations and obeiscence...
It was a pretty tough test but then again I am a developer by trade and most
of my interactions with Server 2003 have revolved around getting my software
to run properly on the said platform. I also have a 2003 domain at home.
So what did I use to prepare? Behold the list:
1. The 70-290 book from Syngress (ISBN: 1932266607)
2. Practice questions from MeasureUp (www.measureup.com)
3. Practicing a lot on my home domain
The book was nice. It was lacking in the areas of SUS and GPOs. You need
to read a white paper or two on SUS. I also highly recommend going through
each of the policies that can be set in a GPO. The practice questions
helped point out a few areas I needed to study a little better. The most
essential tool though was the home network. You have to have hands on
experience with the areas being tested (e.g. ADUC, NTFS and Share
permissions, ntbackup, terminal services, SUS etc.).
