    - 70-290 shadow copies question I am not sure of the best answer for one of the questions I had: The question clearly required you to enable shadow copies on a volume, but it was a two part answer, and the first part was related to where the shared folder would be: - we could put it in the system root. - or we could create a new volume and put it there. I chose the second option, because I found it weird to put anything in the system root, but is there another explanation for this. I don't know if there is anything that would prevent you from puting the shared file in the system root and allowing share copies on the system volume.     - Anyone heard of ExamForce? Hello, Has anyone heard any feedback positive or negative about the ExamForce adaptive testing software for MCSE preperation. I have a really good deal on the table to get a lifetime subscription to all of their Microsoft material. I have 9+ years experience with MS, a good working knowledge of Windows NT4/2000/2003/XP and a complete lab to work in.     - 70-290, properly answering access permission questions I had a headache today after failing the exam with a 678 (missing only one or two questions). How are you supposed to answer permission access questions? should you explicitely deny write permissions when a person is only allowed to read from a file or folder, or should you just leave it blank and simply allow the read permission? I am a thorough person, when someone should only be allowed to read from a file I prefer to deny him write permissions so that he doesn't get access if he is moved into a group or inherits from a containing folder. What is the proper approach? I think these were the questions that killed me, I must have had about 7 questions like this. If I got them all wrong, then I know why I failed today.     - OT Thursday Fun The Perfect Dump Every once in a while everyone experiences the perfect dump. It's rare but a real thing of beauty. You sit down expecting the worse, but what you get is a smooth sliding, fart-less masterpiece that breaks the water with the splash-less grace of an Olympic high-diving champion. You use the toilet tissue to find that it was totally unnecessary. It makes you feel that all is right in the world and that you are in perfect harmony with it. The Beer Dump Nasty! Depends upon the dumper's tolerance and is the result of too many beers - doesn't matter if it was 2 or 22. What you get is a sinister, lengthy, noisy dump accompanied by an odious malevolent fog that could close the bathroom for days. Naked flames are ill advised..... The Chilli Dump (aka The Japanese Flag) Hot when it goes in and napalm when it comes out. It stays with you all day stinging yer ring and generally making your choccie starfish feel like the Shuttle's heat shield. Also makes your ass look like "a Japanese Flag". The Empty Roll Dump Relief - you've finished and reach for the tissue only to find an empty cardboard cylinder staring back at you. Panic overcomes you. You could use the curtains but then someone would ask "where are the curtains?" Use the rug? Nah, too bulky and cumbersome. You then come to the same conclusion that every "empty roll dumper " must face.....pull up yer kecks tighten yer cheeks and shuffle yourself to the nearest loo roll. Failing that you could always use your shirt-tail or one of your socks! The Splash Back Dump This one drops like a depth charge creating a column of cold water that washes your sphincter with a startlingly unpleasant shock. Now your wet - and embarrassed if the column of water went half way up your back. Tip of the day: blot instead of wiping. The Childbirth Dump This one is just too big to go through the aperture provided by nature for this purpose. You sit there thinking over your dilemma. First it hurts, and then gets no better. You sweat violently and wonder if you'll ever see your loved ones again. You imagine the newspaper headlines screaming "Man dies trying to hatch monster loaf!" There are only three things you can do: 1. Scream 2. Call an Obstetrician 3. Hope to hell you've got some Vaseline to help you get through it. The Machine Gun Dump Best utilized in public conveniences. You sit there in sublime peace when suddenly you emit a group of noisy gassy bursts that break the tranquility like machine gun fire. The guy in the next cubicle hits the floor like a Vietnam veteran, cradling his umbrella like a M16....damn commies. The Sound Effect Dump You feel a noisy one coming on but relatives, friends or work mates are within earshot. So, you must employ some clever techniques to cover the disgusting sounds you are about to emit. Timing is of the essence. At the precise moment of release, try the following: 1. Flush the toilet 2. Drop loose change on the floor, 3. Sing the first two stanzas of your favorite opera. The Cling-On Dump You've finished but there's one damn morsel that refuses to drop. You grip the seat with both hands and wriggle. You twist and pump but the little bastard just hands there, suspended, clinging like a canned peach between you and the water below. If only you had some scissors....... The Whole Roll Dump No matter how much you wipe, it just isn't enough. You blow the whole roll and have to flush at least a dozen times. The whole episode is consumer waste. Eventually if your toilet paper runs into minimal supply anything will do, towels, wash clothes, carpet, walls, whatever it takes. The Encore Dump Ahhh, you've done, so you wipe, dress, flush, wash hands and are about to leave the auditorium when you feel another dump coming on. You must therefore return for a curtain call. The world record is seven encores..... The Houdini Dump You go, you stand to flush and it has disappeared! Did it creep down the pipe or did you dream the whole thing? Should you flush?     - Dial-up simulators Does anybody know of a handy way of simulating RRAS and VPN connections to either a RRAS or RADIUS Server. Im just about to begin upgrading my certs to 2003 and was wondering if the equipment used for ISDN Simulation (something like http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=176&item=5764084921&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW) would work for setting up and testing remote connections. I never had the time to play around with this stuff in 2000, but id like to get the opportunity to do it in 2003. Without having to tie up 2 phone lines in the process.     - New tests Microsoft announces new MCSE testing procedure Redmond, WA Microsoft certifications got a badly needed shot in the arm today, with the announcement of a new certification procedure for it's much-vaunted, but recently devalued Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) program. Beginning immediately, all existing holders of MCSE will have their certifications revoked pending review. Microsoft learning spokesperson Mandy Envious stated today that current certification holders will have an opportunity to provide proof of expertise with the relevant technology. Further information will be sent to the affected individuals by mail. Future applicants for certification will be required to provide proof of experience in the technology before testing will be approved. Minimum of one full year of experience will be required for most Microsoft Certified Proffessional (MCP) exams. The exceptions being Exam 70?218: Managing a Microsoft Windows 2000 Network Environment, which is considered to be irrelevant, and requires no verifiable experience, and 70-292 which has such a high failure rate, that two years of verifiable experience must be proven before testing will be scheduled. Microsoft also today released the new fee structure for all certifications. All new MCP applicants will be required to post a $5000.00 bond to ensure against cheating or falsification of experience or training. If it is discovered that an individual has cheated on any portion of the certification process, he or she will be stripped of any an all Microsoft certifications, barred from certification on Microsoft products for life, and forfeit the $5000.00 bond. Each exam will now cost $450.00 USD. Current holders of any MCP may apply for re-instatement of their certifications by posting the $5000.00 bond and appearing for a board review and proof of skills. I find they are generally badly worded or have off topic questions which are often too hard, especially multiple choice / drag and drop questions. I am interested to hear your opinions on MeasureUp as I'm thinking of purchasing some other practice questions - which are the best to go for? Thanks for all your replies.
