I have to move some PC's from one office to the other, what is the best way
to park the hard drives?

Thank you,

You must disengage the drive gear. If they are newer drives that are
automatic, you just have to find the selector on the drive and move it to P.
Older drives have a manual setting that have to be changed to N or neutral.

Right. On the manual ones, don't forget to set the brake!

If they don't have the newer auto selector, I found that just attaching a
large magnet to the side of the drive will usually stop it from slopping
around. If that doesn't work, you can always drill a hole through the
platters, and secure them in place with a bicycle lock.

I find the most difficult issue is the parallel parking of Hard Drives.
and always remember to use the emrgency brake when parking the drive on

The transmission is indeed the best brake. But it never hurts to have the
parking brake on.

My drive doesn't have a P or N. It only has M, CS, and S. Now obviously the
M stands for manual but what do the other ones stand for?

Don't get me started on transmissions. Mine went bad, and I'm trying to deal
with Hyundai in California to see if I can still get it under warranty. The
problem is the fact that the car now resides in Germany (took it with us
when we moved). I'm not too optimistic. This is the SECOND one that crapped
out on us...they DID replace the first one NQA, though (we were still back
in NY at the time).

On the serious side, how long has it been since hard drives started to
auto-park themselves? I remember from my first job that we had to park the
drives on the original IBM PC XTs before we moved them.

It's Motivation Week at a NYC elementary school, and Derek Jeter is
scheduled to come in and give a little speech to the kids. When he gets
there, the teacher asks everyone to raise their hand if they're a Yankees
fan. All the kids do, except one. The teacher leans in, slightly embarassed
for the child, and asks her why she didn't raise her hand. She replied,
simply, "I'm not a Yankees fan."
To which the teacher responded, almost shocked, "You're not?! Well how
come?"
"Well, my father is a Red Sox fan, and my mother is from Boston, so she's a
Red Sox fan."
"Well, honey, you have to learn to think for yourself," responded the
teacher. "If your mother was a moron and your father was an idiot, would you
be a moron or an idiot?"
"No, I'd be a Yankees fan," replied the child.

Oh, BTW, Neil:

See now, if you lived here, you could show him your collection of firearms.
Clean your double barrel shotgun when he comes over. Say arbitrary things
like "You ever see what a double barrel 12 gauge does to the human body at
close range?" or "They say that a gut shot is the worst way to go.".

Reminds me of when I was dating this one young lady.
On my first visit to her house, as she was finishing
getting ready, he dad and I were talking and he offered
to show me his gun collection. I said sure and he took me
into a room where there were enough weapons and ammo
to outfit a small Central American army. Believe me, I behaved
myself around that gal.

Sorry about that other comment. Just think of the wonderful
