Hi everyone,

I was wondering if people would be willing to share how
long it took to complete all 7 exams for MCSE. I just
started reading Microsoft's Self-Paced Training Kit book
for 70-210.

Thanks,

KC

thanks, Chris. It's good to get an idea of how long it
takes to completely finish the certification.

Don't know if you've read this post:

http://www.itworld.com/Career/1826/030722ibmmove/

Looks like IT jobs aren't as secure as I was hoping. Well,
maybe by the time I get done with all the security
certifications, I'll still be able to find a job.

those are pretty much software engineering jobs that are getting outsourced,
not network admin type jobs.

So stick with it, and don't worry too much about what that article says.

Some folks finish the MCSE in literally days.
They either have years and years of experience, or are cheating by using
braindumps.
Don't be tempted to cheat, it is you (and other MCSE holders) who lose out
in the end !

By the time I sit my fourth exam it will be 14 months. But it largely
depends on how much time you put in, some days I don't do anything due to
work or social commitments, or I'm just too damn tired! Then again, I'm in
no hurry, I expect it could be the middle of next year before I pass all 7,
which would be a total of approx 2 years.

Cheers, Steve.

not just software engineering.
also network. this allows them to have cheaper grunts on the ground and a
central (cheap) resource centre somewhere cheap. shame tho when the cheap
grunt calls the resourse centre he can't understand a word they are telling
him...

Mine took 14 months total but I took 6 months off in the middle because of
the year end Holidays and work projects. I think part of it was that I
passed 70-216 at the end of October and just needed a break. I also took
and passed the beta for 70-214 in there, too. If there had not been a lot
of work and family time involved I really feel I could have finished in 6
months - 8 months tops. If you work with the product and really understand
the fundamentals them you will be fine. Everything really builds on itself.
Good Luck!

Thanks everyone for your replies and encouragements.
Having been unemployed for about 8 months now from
software programming, I'm glad there's still a light at
the end of the tunnel.

KC,

I just finished my MCSA, MCSE last Sunday, I went to a
bootcamp in May 2003, only took three test during the
three week course. But I studied from one to two weeks
per test. 70-216 took about two 1/2 weeks.Over all
it took me about 10 weeks to cover all to Certs.

Depends how much time you put into it.I looked at the web
page of the bootcamp I went too and I noted one person
took three test three days in a row and passed all of
them WoW....

I recommend Online practice test, you can get alot of
free demos and braindumps to help. if you take 70-216
study well and understand the conceipts. you will pass.

It took from Nov 2002 - May 2003, I went to Sweden over xmas for 3
weeks, though I did bring a server book when I went, I just didn't
study much at all. When they came out with the :Security thing in June
I was already 1/3 into my ISA Book and wrote that in June and wrote 214
in early July. I wrote like an exam every 3 or 4 weeks. Unlike a lot
of the people here though, I don't work at all. I'm a full time
college student and spent nearly all of my waking moments at it.
